Quarrying in Hindang particularly in Brgy. Katipunan and Capudlosan
have started since 1988. TJR Corporation was the first company who
introduced the new industry to the Hindanganon. Due to the permit issued By the DENR and the office of the mayor, the were able to conduct their operations legally. 18,904.2 hectares was the total area allowed by their permit. Unfortunately, TJR sufferd financial problem and declared bankruptcy last year. It is the Primary Corporation who take over the remaining two years validation of the permit. As of now, PRIMARY AND OSME�A are the two Sand and Gravel Corporations which presently operating at Brgy. Katipunan and Capudlosan. This increasing no. of quarrying industry in that place brings fear to the people living in that affected areas.

1. Quarrying should be done in limited areas such as on rivers to avoid overflow of water during heavy rains.
2. The issuing of permit should be done after a careful analysis to the effects it might bring to the environment.
3. Dumptrucks passing on highways should maintain a cover on the upper part of their trucks, to avoid spilling of sands or stones that may cause injury.
4. No permit, no operation policy should be strictly imposed.
