60th Birthday Celebration Planning Meeting
June 22, 2003, Cerritos, California

Present: May Hoshide Ozaki, Alma Imamura Sakoda, Gordon Isomura, Richard Ladera, Vivian Okuno, Charlotte Wada Nakamura, Pauline Yano.

HILO HIGH SCHOOL-Class of 1962-Sixtieth birthday celebration-October 8-9, 2004-Las Vegas Theme: "Through the Years" (suggested by Cherylyn Zane Inouye).

LAS VEGAS CLUB CASINO HOTEL:

Richard Ladera distributed packets of information on the Las Vegas Club Casino Hotel provided by Sandy Martin, Sales and Catering Executive. He reported that 25 hotel rooms (lodging and three meals only) were "blocked" for the HHS 1962-birthday celebration. Note: These rooms are for (1) classmates who do not reside in Hawaii and (2) classmates who may not be traveling with the Jackie's Travel Hawaiian package.

It was recommended by consensus that classmates call 1-800-634-6532 and indicate Hilo High School Class of 1962 Reunion (Richard Ladera) for reservations. The number of "blocked" rooms will be increased/decreased pending responses by April 1, 2004.

Classmates from Hawaii should use Jackie's Travel to take advantage of the "Hawaiian package" which includes air travel, lodging and meals. Contacts at Jackie's Travel are Marianne Luna Nekoba and her sister. Steve Nitura will follow-up with details.

Use of meal coupons to offset the cost of Saturday night's buffet dinner needs clarification.

Per review of the menus. the following was recommended:

Ralston Nagata is to be contacted to provide information for distribution of newsletters and the registration form by mail. Steve Nitura is to assist with bulk mail to reduce mailing costs.

PRE-REUNION ACTIVITY: Several classmates indicated that they would like to see a Las Vegas show as one of the activities. After a review provided by Richard Ladera and some discussion, it was recommended that plans be made to see the Celine Dion show on Thursday, October 7, 2004. Cost for tickets and ground transportation need to be determined; also, information on Jackie's Travel Group's arrival date and time is needed to proceed with plans. This item is to be included as part of the pre-registration.

GOLF: Gordon Isomura reported that there are 40 tee times reserved at the Angel Park Course for both Friday and Saturday. All golfers are welcome to participate. The cost of green fees/prizes is $200 for both days. Response is needed by April 1, 2004.

SCAVENGER HUNT: Steve Nitura will be working with Northern California classmates and Melvin Ozeki to organize teams and plan the scavenger hunt at the Fremont St. Experience. It was recommended that this event be scheduled around 4 p.m. to enable golfers to participate, too.

Classmates will be asked to submit copies of photos/videos to be included in the presentation. Photos/videos are to be submitted to Richard/Charlotte by September, 2003. A story board will then be developed to produce a slide show. Technological assistance and information on scanning of photos, equipment for production as well as for the presentation as part of the Saturday night dinner, etc. need to be obtained. Pending final production. CD copies would be made available for classmates.
