The initial LV reunion planning meeting was held on March 30, 2002, in Las Vegas at Steven Nituras meeting place. Present at the first meeting were Steven and Judy Nitura, Alvin and Charlotte (Wada) Nakamura and Rich and Carol Ladera.

The following topics were discussed at this first brainstorming session: Meeting dates, meeting locations, committees, and activities

1. Meeting Dates/ Locations

It was established that for this year, planning meetings would be held quarterly in Las Vegas. The following dates were defined for planning purposes June 22nd, September 28th, with the December date as a bye due to the holidays. However, Steven is planning to have some activity during the holidays so that whoever is in LV during that time can participate.

The meetings will be held at Steves meeting place, upstairs of the Beef Jerky Store.

Future planning dates, as well as meeting sites, shall be determined by the Reunion Planning Committee, when defined. Hopefully, we will have better participation at the next meeting so we can start defining the planning committee as well as the committee heads.

2. Committees

The following committees were identified for overall planning of the reunion activities:

Communication: This committee will be involved with, and be responsible for, all communications regarding the planning activity. It was brought up that we should be more proactive in communicating with our fellow classmates during the promotion of this reunion. A bulletin board has been established for use in communication.

Reunion site selection: This committee will be responsible for selection of the site(s) for the reunion activities (e.g. Grad night, dinner). A topic that was discussed was the idea of a picnic. Note: the date for the reunion is open. It was suggested that if a majority of our classmates are retired, or will be retired in two years, the reunion could be held some time other than the typical summer months. Topic to be discussed at future planning meetings.

Food: Responsible for selecting a menu for the Grad Night, dinner and picnic (if we do decide to have a picnic). This committee will also be responsible for stocking the beverages and goodies in the hospitality room.

Registration: Self explanatory

Activities: This committee will be responsible for overseeing the activities that have been scheduled for the reunion participants. So far, the following activities have been identified: Scavenger hunt, craft show, shopping spree, limousine tour, slot tournament, karaoke session, golf, bowling, raffle, shows.

Memorabilia: This committee will be responsible for identifying, selecting, procuring/making memorabilia that will be made available to participants of the reunion or whomever.

3. Other business

Since this first planning meeting had limited participation, it was decided that the notes would be sent to the Cal/Vegas planning group for review and input. Please jot down your ideas so that they can be shared at the next planning meeting (June 22nd) in LV. Hope to see you here!

Respectfully submitted,
The scribe Rich Ladera
