Call to order: Meeting was called to order at 8:05 p.m. by Ralston. Minutes of the May 21, 2002 meeting were circulated and approved as corrected. 1. Committee Reports: a. Program (Friday, July 26) Donna (in absentia) provided the committee with an updated timeline for grad night. One key change has been made the buffet will be served at 7 o'clock p.m. not at 6 o'clock as previously planned. Emcee Peter Yanagihara will utilize the trivia gathered from attendees and only he and Donna will know the answers. The committee all agreed that Mike Nakasone's dinner be complimentary because he will be providing entertainment for the evening. b. Finance: To date, there is $15,000 in our treasury. $860 has been collected since the last meeting and expenses incurred are $1800. c. Golf: The golf committee is confident all the slots will be filled. d. Hotel: Arlene reported the cost of the 2-bedroom hospitality suite is $195 per nite. It has been reserved for three nights. We do not have the required number of rooms reserved to warrant a complimentary suite i.e. the charge. Members of the committee were disappointed to learn that Ala Moana Hotel is not showing "aloha" to us with regard to hotel accommodations and they need to be made aware (by Arlene) we are somewhat displeased with that particular aspect of their services. e. Registration: Naomi reported we have close to 100 graduates attending the reunion. f. Souvenir: An initial shirt order will be placed with the printing company for confirmed orders to date. Extra shirts will be ordered by the committee and made available to attendees on grad and banquet night. It was decided that the souvenir committee order 30% more extra shirts (combination of polo and t-shirts) in proportion to what has already been ordered. Any unsold shirts will be given away as door prizes at banquet night. g. Reception: Charlyn reported that name tags have already been made for graduates registered to attend the reunion. Flower leis for attendees will be sewn in the hospitality room on the day of grad night. h. Hospitality: Donations are being requested for soda, beer and pupus for the hospitality room. 2. Next and last meeting: Tuesday, July 16--6:00 p.m. at Ralston's. 3. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m. however the committee was recalled to meet at 9:23 p.m. in order to select the main courses for banquet night. It was also suggested we ask two of our classmates to give the invocation before our meals on both nights Jensen Pakele on grad night and Steven Nitura on banquet night. Final adjournment was 9:40 p.m. Respectfully submitted, |
