The reunion committee wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Ralston and his wife Pauline for graciously opening their home to us every month for our meetings. We know you work real hard Ralston, cleaning the house and preparing all the "extras" in order to make us feel welcome. Pauline...what can we say? You're the hostess ... with the most-est! Thank you!

Call to order: Meeting was called to order at 8:30 p.m. by Matt Daog. Minutes of the November 8, 2001 meeting were approved as read.

1. Committee Reports:

a. Golf: The Mamala Bay Course at Hickam Air Force Base has been confirmed as the site for the golf tournament. A reminder that golfers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. The tournament is open to guests and spouses of graduates.

b. Prizes/Donations: Confusion reigned as to who was still on this committee. In the end it was decided that the committee remain a cooperative effort with members Ben Matsubara, Ronald Hirano, Mike Chun and hopefully Ken Sakai.

c. Reception: June Iki reconfirmed that Albert Kauwe will assist with her committee, and that Cheryl (Kaneoka) Oda has also been recruited. The committee is grateful that it acquired the use of a laminating machine to make badges for the reunion attendees.

d. Registration: Hooray! We have our first official registrants to the reunion. Mahalo to Gordon and Peggy Isomura, and Charlotte Wada and her husband, Alvin, for their timely response and a BIG mahalo for their generous donations. Let it be known that all reunion committee members present this evening "verbally" committed to attending, but nobody wen' give kala. A reminder to all graduates: FEBRUARY 14 is the early deadline for monies to be in to receive a $5 discount on all events.

e. Program: Donna reported that Mike Nakasone will bring his own backup group to Waialae Country Club on grad night. A suggestion was made to include an ice-breaker as part of the program that evening and a lively discussion ensued. It was decided that a notice be sent through email to notify all reunion attendees to submit to the registration committee one unique trivia about themselves or another classmate so the program committee can utilize this information in a contest. Another suggestion was that we hold an elementary school talent contest competition on banquet night. More details will be forthcoming in the next newsletter.

f. Public Relations: Beryl will notify Craig to use the Hilo High bulletin board to remind classmates of the early registration discount deadline (FEBRUARY 14) and ask classmates to submit a piece of trivia about themselves with the registration form.

g. Newsletter: The next newsletter will be out at the end of March. Ralston requests that anything newsworthy be submitted at the February meeting.

2. Next Meeting: Wednesday, February 27, 2002, 6:00 p.m. at Ralston's.

3. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 9:43 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Beryl (Kam) Lau
