Saturday, May 12, 2001, Ralston Nagata's Residence, 1821 Laukahi Place, Honolulu, HI 96821 (ph. 373-9357) Attendees: Ralston Nagata, Mel & Naomi Nakayama Matsumoto, Irene Akiyama Yamamoto, Beryl Kamm Lau, Bobo Claveria, Byron Muramatsu, Ainsley AhSing, Les & Donna Saito Hoshide, Arlene Yanagihara, Craig Miyamoto, Daisy Makaimoku, Matthew Daog, Peter Yanagihara, Terry & Patsy Onuma Nakamura, Ben Matsubara. Click here for meeting pictures. Call To Order: Meeting was called to order by 40th Reunion Chair Ralston Nagata at 7:45 p.m. after attendees enjoyed a potluck of good food brought by all. Matthew Daog expressed special thanks on behalf of all attendees to Ralston and wife Pauline for so graciously opening their home for this meeting, and also extended thanks to all for the delicious potluck items shared for dinner. Ralston introduced Naomi "Nani" Nakayama Matsumoto as his Chief of Staff for this 40th reunion event to be planned. Items Discussed and Actions Taken: 1. 2002 Reunion Date: After much discussion, options considered were July 4th weekend, end of July, mid August, & end of August. By majority vote of attendees at meeting, July 26 - 27, 2002 was selected for the date of the 40th reunion. 2. Type & Duration of Event: By unanimous vote, it was decided that the reunion activities would include a Friday Grads Night with option to bring guest, an optional golf outing, and a Saturday Evening Banquet Dinner and that expenses would be borne by each attendee at the respective functions. 3. Location of Events: The following options were considered and discussed: Turtle Bay Hilton, Ihilani Resort, Ala Moana Hotel, Hale Koa, Outrigger Hotel, Dole Ballroom, Pearl City Cultural Center, Hawaii Prince Hotel, Waialae Country Club. By majority vote it was decided that the options of Ala Moana Hotel, Hawaii Prince Hotel, and Waialae Country Club would be further researched as to availability and cost and the information shared with all attendees via a phone or e-mail poll on preference. It was expressed that consideration should be given for Grads Night at Waialae Country Club and a hotel which could accommodate a hospitality suite near alums rooms for the Saturday Evening Banquet. 4. 5. Next Meeting: Set for Friday, June 22, 2001 at 6 pm at Ralston Nagata's (1821 Laukahi Place) with your choice of potluck item to share for dinner with committee. Meeting adjourned at 9:40 pm as all retired to Karaoke & desserts. Respectfully submitted, |
