Production is fundamental to economic life. This project, pilot, modular is a starting point at Production Economics looking for information. It begins by one sector (agricultural) and a sub-sector (cacao husbandry) which matter in the region where UESC is inserted. By learning during the execution, this project will be extended to others sub-sectors and sectors.

Certainly it will change from simple case study ( today it is monitoring 2 private farms and UESC’s another ) to other one based in statistical sample.

The project monitors the development of the agricultural year in each one of the productive units, accumulating quantitative data about input use, output and input and output prices. At the end of the agricultural year those elements will furnish economic evaluation of the agribusiness and will generate technical-coefficients of the productive system, either of the input/input type or of the input/output one. Accumulated during a lot of years, these technical-coefficients will be treated as randomic variables, their distribution of frequency and their density functions of probability will be sought, thus it will be possible to manage the stochastic production cost functions.

In such a manner that, one may to work by effective production costs

instead of the so used standard production costs. The projected work may be extended to so many cost categories, among them social costs x private cost.

After empirical validation process, may to use its informations toward production economics generally, starting from the study of production functions whose elements will already available.
