| STEVEN KEATON : the put upon dad steven is the wisecracking father and lets face it with having to deal with the likes of alex and malllory its kinda helpful to have a sense of humour. steven worked for a local tv station. steven's greatest line is when coming home from a break away with elyse returns to find alex has rented the house out as a hotel, he says...""parents are conditioned to accept a few mishaps...a broken vase, some spilled milk on the floor... there was a kangaroo in my living room!!!" ELYSE KEATON : the voice of reason ex hippie elyse was the calm in a pretty chaotic household, a strong believer in standing up for what you believe in she encouraged her children and was always there to listen when problems arose..of which they usually did. she shocked alex, mallory and jennifer when she announced that she was pregnant but continued to balance family life and a career as an architect. ALEX P KEATON : the egotistical tycoon in the making alex was the king of the one liners, behind the butter wouldn't melt face he had an array of sarcastic quips to dispense out to those less canny than himself (of which there was many). alex acted much older than his tender years and in between checking stocks and shares and studying for school seemed to cause his long suffering parents no ends of problems, but despite his money grabbing ways and single minded attitude alex had charm by the bucketloads. MALLORY KEATON : the ditzy teen queen mallory was the fashion mad, boy crazy teenage princess. she was much more at home in ohio's finest shopping malls than in the classroom, constantly ribbed by big brother alex for her lack of academic prowess mallory was as daft as alex was smart. popular and kinda shallow mallory wasn't only the butt of most of alex's jokes but she was also lumbered with a boyfriend called 'nick' a guy so dumb he'd probably fail a blood test. JENNIFER KEATON : the young tomboy jennifer started out as the baby of the family, a sports mad tomboy who'd rather play softball than play with dolls...less dense as sister mallory she could usually cotton on to one of alex's dastardly schemes pretty sharpish however during the shows run jennifer became much more self absorbed and as the make up came out some of her previous qualities vanished. ANDY KEATON : the mop topped alex in training (not pictured) andy was the last edition to the keaton clan and like big bro alex was as cute as a button, he was mini-alex and looked up to his brother more than anyone else. * did you know.......tom hanks, geena davies, courtney cox and river phoenix all had early roles in family ties????
