Our instructor is Karen Nelson, who has many years experience teaching riders from beginners to show level. We teach english riding lessons, and encourage riders to try both jumping and dressage as they progress. You are never too old to learn to jump! We teach all levels of riders, from beginners to competition riders, and will take students to local shows on their own horse, or on one of ours.
Our focus is to teach you not just how to ride, but also WHY you should ride in a certain way. We want people to come from our program understanding how horses think and how to work with them in a healthy and safe manner for both horse and rider.
Hillside Stable only teaches girls and women, ages 10 and up. If you do not fit into our program, or if we do not have a spot available for you, we can assist you in finding a suitable lesson program.
Riders not quite ready for their own horse, but who wish to get to the next level of riding, including showing, should look into our lease options. Our leases include weekly lessons, and many people are suprised to learn that leasing a horse at Hillside is cheaper than taking lessons at most area barns! Leasing allows riders ton increase their riding fitness, allows them greater opportunities to spend time riding, and is nice for the horses!
