Sunshine Committee Guidelines

 

 

PURPOSE     

The purpose of the Sunshine Committee is to send cards and/or gifts to members of the

Hillside School family (including faculty), as needed.

The Co-President(s) will contact the attendance secretary in the office on a bi-weekly basis to keep abreast of situations requiring Sunshine services.

 

FACULTY AND STAFF

Defined as any teacher, administrator, office staff, or custodian.

 

     A card and a $25.00 gift certificate or a $25.00 flower arrangement/plant + delivery charges will be sent for the following occasions:

Wedding

Birth of child

Death of family member (spouse or child)

Extended illness (a week or more)

Retirement or transfer of any faculty member who has been at Hillside for 5 years or longer

 

     A card and $10.00 flower arrangement or gift of same value will be given to staff members who will be transferred with less than 5 years of service at Hillside.

                                         

     When retiring with more than 20 years of service in Hillside or within the district, Faculty will receive a $50.00 gift certificate.

 

     A card will be sent to faculty receiving advanced degrees.

 

 

STUDENTS

Hillside students only

 

     Extended illness at home (more than 1 week)

$10.00 balloon arrangement + card + delivery + tax

                                 

     Inpatient hospitalization (more than 1 week)

$25.00 gift certificate or any other appropriate gesture (plant, for example) + card.

 

     Death of a parent or sibling

      $25.00 flower arrangement + card + delivery + tax sent to funeral home OR          

      $25.00 donation to charity (depending on wishes of the family).

                             

           

These are just guidelines.  All attempts were made to cover every situation, but there may be gaps or questions that may arise.  Any exceptions to the above should be approved by the PTA president(s).
