On behalf of the Mara Clean-Up participants and organisers I extend to you our warmest appreciation of your support for our humble cause. The clean-up campaign was a fulfilling trip, on personal and social levels, both emotionally and mentally. No campaign can be perfect and I cannot claim that ours was, but truthfully we carried out all we had intended and promised you we would.

200 tree seedlings were planted. Over the course of 2 such trips, over 350 seedlings have been planted. The majority of these have been planted by the youth (of different nationalities and cultures, united by a common goal), whose good intents could only have been realised through the assistance of kind benefactors such as your company and/or organisation. In a few years time, you can visit the Mara and point out to your friends and family, the trees that are there as a result of our hard efforts together. The clean up exercise was successful with an unbelievably large area covered. We are yet to overcome the hurdle of raising public awareness.

This campaign did not only make a difference to the Mara environment, but also to the Nkoilale School. They now have a micro-ecosystem, fenced within their school grounds, which they are very proud of. They have a few extra books to study from which we donated. They have memories and friendships from the weekend, which will stay with them forever. The same goes for the Hillcrest students, for many it was a life changing experience, opening their eyes to the needs of a developing country.

I cannot thank you enough for your kind assistance in making this campaign a reality for the year 2002. As a token of our appreciation we printed the names of our sponsors on the official Mara clean up 2002 T-shirts, which were worn during the exercise. You should also look forward to our public appreciation, which will be appearing in the Daily Nation.
