July 05, 2005:
Today I introduced my pair. I decided to spawn right in Aidan's tank, since I don't plan on removing him after the fry are free-swimming. If I notice babies are disappearing or see him eating babies, I plan on putting him behind a divider like I used to seperate him and Adara while they were getting to know each other.
Tomorrow night I plan on letting her out of her divider to spawn with Aidan. By then, Aidan's bubblenest should be plenty big enough and they should both be ready to spawn. Both are conditioned and Aidan is already flaring at her through the divider. He has been swimming between the bubblenest and her, flares at her, then returns to the nest to add a bubble or two.
I'm hoping he's gentle with her during the spawning, but in case he is not, I do have some Melafix on hand.
If after allowing her to free-swim in his tank for a day, there aren't any eggs, I may run to the LPS for some Black Water Extract, as that is supposed to aid in spawning.
