Rules For Beer Leg
The beer leg is played after the fourth game. It's basically a game of doubles but with the whole team. The captain starts and the order is the singles matches in reverse order. i.e. if you played the first game of the night then you be the last man on the team to take his/her shot in the beer leg. If your team lose the beer leg, then you must buy the person you played against a pint (Jehovah). In some matches a five second rule is used. If it is used then you must hit the ball in less than five seconds or it's a foul.
There are two different types of killer which are played at the Men's Pool Practice. The one involving cards can be found here. All the games for killer are payed for out of the entry fee (typically 20p). The usual one has the following rules:- 1. Names are written on a sheet of paper and the order is denoted by that list. 2. Each player is given a set amount of lives (either two or three) and is out when all lives are gone. 3. If you fail to pot then you lose a life. 4. If you pot two balls legally on any one shot then you gain a life. 5. Potting two balls on a shot but also fouling results in the gain of a life but also a loss of a life, therefore no change. 6. After a foul, the cue ball may be picked up and treated as a standed foul with only one shot. 7. Black ball goes last and cannot be directly played into out of turn. 7. When the black has been potted legally the game is re-racked but the cue-ball cannot be moved unless it is blocking the rack.

Rules For Ladder
At the start of November the initial Ladder rankings will be created with last years players seeded and newcomers randomly assigned. The winner is the person at the top of the ladder at the end of the academic year. The rules are:- 1. You can only challenge and be challenged once every week. 2. Challenges must be made at pool practice (8 in the Vernon every Monday). Any challenges that are not made on pool night must be posted on the message board on the chain called LADDER. 3. The first challenge received must be accepted. 4. You can only challenge someone who is a maximum of three places above you. 5. If the challenger wins then the two players swop places. 6. Matches must be played at a mutually convient time and place. 7. If you don't play an agreed match or are more than thirty minutes late then you forfiet that match. 8. Matches consist of best of three games (race to two) unless BOTH players agree otherwise. 9. If the person that you challenged moves out of your three player reach then the challenge is void, however you can challenge again that week. (i.e. still one challenge match a week.) 10. Games must be played as soon as possible and the result must be posted on the board as soon as possible. 11. The top four players at the end of the year go into a mini-league. The positions in that league are the end position in the ladder. Each person in the league will play one match against the other players. Each match will consist of three games, all of which must be played. Any comments or problems then e-mail me.
