2003-2004 Texas Bluebonnet Books
About the Texas Bluebonnet Award...
The Texas Bluebonnet Award was established in 1979 to encourage elementary students to read quality children's literature from a variety of genres.  It is one of the few book awards where the winner is actually selected by children.  Students in elementary school, grades 3-6, who have read at least 5 of the 20 books selected for the current Texas Bluebonnet List, are allowed to vote each January for their favorite book.  This provides teachers, librarians, parents, and writers with insight into young students' reading preferences and allows students to be active participants in the selection of an award winning book.
