The poems Summer Evening and Summer Shower have a few similarities. They both talk about an aspect of mother nature. Summer Evening talks about the sun: "the day's grown old, the fainting sun" (ll.1-2). Where as Summer Shower is about the rain: "A drop fewll on the appletree,/ Another on the roof" (ll.1-2). Both poems talks abouth the beauty of mother nature and how it affects us. The sun indicates when it is time for us to wake up and when it is time for to rest: "Till Pheobus, dipped in the west,/ Shall lead the world the way rest"(ll.21-22). The rain makes everything sparkle once it stops and the sun comes out: "The sunshine threw his hat away,/ The orchards spangles hung"(ll.11-12).
The poem Summer Morning is about the poet looking at the little details of life: "I stop and listen:/ Somewhere close by/ A stome cracks a nuckle,/ Another turns over in its sleep" (ll.27-30). Where as the poem Naked With Summer In Your Mouth is about the poet looking back at the detail so his life: "and an obvious senility/ send me back into summer" (ll.22-24). |
