Page 12. One had an art exhibit and the other building called the Crystal Palace which was an empty building made of glass. I think it was used as a greenhouse at one time.
It was a beautiful day just to walk in the park. Near this park was the botanical gardens. There was a fee so we didn't go in. Around the side there was a row of kiosks. Most of them were closed, but I had read that they sold used books. So Laurie and I checked it out to see if they had any English paperback books. We found some. Not anything that were best sellers, but we found a few that might be readable. I asked a woman if she would trade, but she didn't understand. So she called her son on her phone because he spoke English. They were willing to swap. Laurie and I had to go back to the hostel to get our books.
We swapped the books and then we walked around, used the internet and made phone calls. The internet and phone calls are so much cheaper in Spain then France. We are leaving for France tomorrow.
December 11, 2003 Today was sad because we were leaving Spain for good. We spent about 7 weeks total in Spain. The people were great and there were so many nice areas. I am also looking forward to Paris. One reason because it means I am getting closer to being home. It is not that I am not enjoying myself, but I do miss home and being settled. Paris will also be nice because there is a lot to do there and we have people to visit with. My Aunt Dimp has a nephew that lives there and has been there many years. He is letting us stay in his apartment for the time that we will be there. It will be great.
Laurie and I got the 10:00 train to take us to France. It was one of the nice high speed trains. It showed two movies. One, "the Mexican", which I saw before with my mother and thought was stupid. The second movie was the Clint Eastwood movie that was on the train ride that we took to Madrid. Oh well, I had my book to read.
We arrived in Hendayes France at 5:00p.m. We checked for the trains to Bayonne where we were going to spend the night. The next train was to be in about 10 minutes. It was only a half hour ride to Bayonne. We decided to go there because we knew there was a cheap hotel right outside the train station.
We got our room and then walked around the town. It was decorated in lights. It was very mild out, but it started to mist out. We went back to the room and I made an egg sandwich for dinner. Laurie and I had found hard boiled eggs at the store yesterday.
