After our bellies were full we walked back down to our apartment. It will be sad to leave the apartement. I have gotten quite comfortable here, but we must move on. September 22, 2003 Today was just a travel day. We went from San Genesio to Perugia. We picked up the apartment, said our good-byes to the owner, Liz and her husband, We set off down the hill to the center. We saw Marion, from the tourist center, and said good-bye to her. We took the cable car to Bolzano and the bus to the train station. We had to wait an hour and a half for our train. We had to change trains three times; in Verona, Bolgna, and Florence. We finally arrived in Perugia at 8:10. We set-off to find the hostel that I had made reservations earlier that day. I thought it was right near the train station. The information center was closed, so we couldn't ask them. Come to find out, we were 20 kilometers away! I called them and found out how to get there. We had to take a bus and we were lucky that the correct one was there waiting to go. We arrived at the hostel about 9:00. It was a long day of traveling. I think I feel more tired when I travel. One thing I noticed today, was how early it gets dark now. I didn't notice it much earlier because we were usually inside. I don't like it much. I feel like my days are shorter now. The cold will be coming soon. We have been traveling by the seasons, so we had warm weather and light just about the whole time. It also is telling me that my trip will be coming to an end soon. There are times I miss everything at home and wish I was there. Then again, I don't like the thought of this ending. I guess because then I will have to make decisions about my life and future. Well, I just will enjoy everyday I have while I am here September 23, 2003 Laurie and I walked around the grounds of the hostel. There was a park there. It didn't look too well maintained. We caught a bus to go back into Perugia. The hostel is actually in Ponte Felcino. It is a long bus ride. There are a lot of hills. We got off at one spot. We weren't really sure where we were or where we were going. We did stop at an internet place for awhile. We then walked around. It is a pretty neat area. There are a lot of old buildings situated in piazzas which are open square areas. People gather here and talk or have lunch at the cafes. There were some neat archways and lanes. There was an outside concert in one of the squares at 6:00. We stayed to watch. We didn't stay for the whole thing. We caught a bus to go to the train station and then caught another back to the hostel. I meant to mention that this morning as I was getting off my bed, it collapsed. Good thing it was not a bunk bed. Laurie tells them I must be eating too much pasta. Actually it must be the gelato. |
