Laurie and I headed for Hong Kong Central today.  We wanted to go back to go through the aviary and then hike up to Victoria's Peak.  The aviary was neat because it is one big cage that you are walking through.  There were certainly some interesting birds of different colors and shapes.

Afterwards we headed up to Victoria's Peak.  It was on paved road and sidewalks to the top.  It was quite steep with switchbacks.  The elevation gain was 1300 feet in a mile and a half.

At the top we took a walk around the peak which was about 4 miles.  If it was clear we could have seen the different parts of Hong Kong and harbors.  The city does a lot with all of their parks and walks.

For lunch Laurie and I went to McDonald's, bought sodas, sat in their balcony looking at the harbor and made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  Talk about high class!

After our lunch and rest we decided that we would walk to the escalators.  There is an escalator that is about 2400 feet.  This is the way people travel to and from work.  The only thing is, the escalator goes only one way.  It goes down in the morning and up after 10:00 a.m.  So that meant we had to walk down, which was fun.  There are a lot of cafes and eating places along the way and little alleys with stores.  Since Hong Kong is so small, it has to fill every spot.

We walked back to the ferry and headed home.  Picked up Coke and dessert for dinner tonight.  It will be our last dinner in Hong Kong.  We are having dinner with Jeff and Peter.  They have been good to us and it has been an enjoyable stay.  I feel very fortunate to have been able to stay there with them.

My leg muscle let me know that I have been doing lots of walking.  Which is good.  I have to get in shape for the tough stuff to come.  I kept telling Laurie everytime we had a hill, "this is good for us".

Just spent the day reading about Bangkok, checking the internet, and packing. Will walk down to the Plaza to have lunch with Pete and Jeff and go to P.O.  Our flight is at 9:00 p.m.  We will take the bus from the Plaza to the airport.
