Kagome is a third year student in junior high. She is fifteen years old. She may even be a reincarnation of Kiyou, a priestess from the Warring TIme Period. She lives with her mother, brother, and grandfather, who is a shrine priest. She first goes to Inuyasha's world when a demon, Mistress Centipede, pulls her into the "bone-eaters well," which is on the land where she lives. This was on her fifteenth birthday. She meets Inuyasha, takes off the spell that Kikyou had placed on him, and gets the Shikon no Tama, or Shikon Jewel, torn from her side. The jewel is split into hundreds, if not thousands, of shards when Kagome shoots an arrow to kill the Jibugarasu. The arrow had one of the birds feet attached to it. It is now that Inuyasha and Kagome leave in search of the shards. Kagome says that she wants to go because she doesn't want anyone to get hurt because of the shards falling into the wrong hands. She uses her bow and arrow to aid Inuyasha in defeating demons. Kagome goes back and forth between her world and Inuyasha's a lot and misses a lot of school because of it. Luckily, her grandpa makes up stories to tell people.Unfortuneately, the cutest boy in school hears these things and gets her things for her "ailments" such as bunions. She is embarassed by this, but is still flattered. He also asks her out ot the movies at one point. She really wants to go and asks Inuyasha if they can be home by Saturday (the day of the date) and he says yes. Then he says something like, "How does human time go?" Kagome goes from assurance to uneasiness. In the beginning, Kagome doesn't like Inuyasha, and when she is asked what her ideal guy is like, she says someone with the exact opposite traits of Inuyasha. Eventually, Kagome comes to realize that she likes Inuyasha, but knows that he still thinks of Kikyou, her ascendant. She doesn't know if Inuyasha cares for her, but at some points, she thinks that he may, especially when he is in his human form. This form has a more compassionate side. Watch the show to see the progression of their relaitonship.
