| Are you being nice to me because you need something? Are you hanging around with me because your other friends aren't available right now? Do you have anything to gain by spending time with me? Has your luck changed so that you might be more desperate than you were before, making it convieniant to come to me and cry on my shoulder? Yesterday you needed someone to attack or violently threaten, but today you just want spare change. You've called me brother and behind my back called me the other. Sharing with me all the quality's you have, like steeling or lying, you plan your big robbery gettaway. You've said Christian, but I see in your eyes a different story altogether. You shake everyones hand hoping to win favor with the public, so they will back you up in your undercover, private scandals. A long time ago I saw you in a pet store, but now I see you every where I go. You love to stand in the chapel raising your hands and praising God, while you plot your evil deeds in secret. In church you read the bible, outside you read your porno and lust after all the women. You say you're a catholic while you guzzle a quart of beer down, as you get drunker and drunker. You say, I love you brother, but you would give me up in a heartbeat. You are the notoriouse chameleon. | ||||||||||
| I have, just lately, had the privilege of being able to stay at the local shelter ran by the Salvation Army and Nicky Lane, along with a handful of helpers that do a pretty good job if I might add. For the most part it's great. The best thing about the Shelter is being able to go inside and immediately lay down to rest or sleep. Alot of people, especially the sick, elderly, and workers, need to rest more often. While the Church people get ready to serve the food, everyone becomes silent for the prayer. After Dinner everyone claps their hands with gratefullness, thanking the Church people for bringing the food. I heard some bad language from people occassionally but they were promptly disciplined by the shelter workers and asked not to talk that way. It is sometimes a little noisey at night untill people finally bed down to go to sleep. Then it gets real peaceful from then on. I think this shelter is a very good idea and it should continue to be available for the homeless in one way or another. The day time drop in center is a really cool idea. If the Salvation Army thinks this shelter isn't making a difference, they are wrong. The shelter is everything to alot of people including myself. Sometimes God is wanting to see if you will be obedient even if it doesn't look like it's going right. This could be one of those moments. Now is not the time to start making mistakes. The Salvation Army, along with all the helpers and providers have given many people with no hope or love in their lives, a place that they can call home for a while. For some of us, one day, in the future, we will be able to look back and remember that for once in our lives we did the right thing, no matter what anyone else said or thought. Don't you think this is a wonderful happening? God bless your tender hearts for all your love and caring kindness. | ||||||||||
| Homelessness isn't a sin. Homelessness is not a crime. It is more than just, "miss do you have a quarter?" or "sir, do you have a dime?" Homelessness has proven to be a valuable lesson. The innocent and righteous may live in the very same shelters with the one who might carry a gun named after smith and wesson. Homelessness may be resolved one day. It will take the world being healed of selfishness and greed. It will take hearts overflowing with love to fulfill a homeless person's needs. Compassion is required when you look into a homeless person's face. Whoever finds it difficult to care should just try living in a homeless person's place. | ||||||||||
| The difficulty of the past is no excuse for the failure of the future. When you reach the finish line, you have just begun.. The strong have a duty to protect the weak. Even the unwanted have worth. |
