Neighborhood Watch
Sergeant Mark
Suarez generously offered his time at our recent board
meeting. He
presented helpful information about starting a neighborhood watch and some
excellent common sense safety tips.
- Do not leave
valuables or the garage door opener in plain site inside your car.
- Lock the car
doors.
- Maintain a list of
serial numbers from valuable items and bicycles for recovery after a
theft.
- Visibly display
your house number.
- Curfew for under
age 17 is 10pm to 6am.
- Work with
neighbors to maintain vacant homes (mow the lawn, plow the snow, park
a car in the driveway). This
deters theft at that home and those nearby.
- Report suspicious
activity (anything that is not the way it should be) to the Oakland
County Sheriff. Non emergencies: (248)
858 – 4950
We will continue to
research the formation of a neighborhood watch. Please look for more information in
future newsletters.
