Nobody may answer this to you for sure. Only the person who gave you the spell may give you the right answer to this. However, depending on your esoteric tradition/path, there are a number of possibilities you may investigate:

Check your spell, its correctness, and clarity. Or, you may need to repeat it once and again (or need "to gather more positive energy").

Check the spell has been used for its right purpose.

Check the Nature (fire, water, ...) of the spell is right for the purpose.

Check its "Custodian"/"Servant" is still around to answer that spell.

Check its requirements have been fulfilled.

Check your procedure was correct.

Check, in case that the spell has a reference to an old sacred text, you are using the correct part and correct version of that text.

Check general requirements and procedures within your tradition/path (focus, faith, presence/absence of certain objects, ...)

Check whether there is a previous impeding spell related to you, the target, the location, ..., unfulfilled vows, "a negative energy", or "reversals".

Check may be a "part of you" is revolting and does not want fruition of the spell.

Check the validity of your spell (that's bad?), of your mentor/source (shocking? may be something that should never be said). Or (worth) may be you just have to satisfy yourself with those old immuable laws of physics.
