Chris Williams to Chair

 

1.      Announcements: Chris Williams announced that he will not let his name stand for president and secretary at the 2003 AGM.  He has taken as position on the BCSS Golf Commission and feels that it is time for a change in the association.  He will continue to with the newsletter, if the format that was outline previously works out.  Ted Anderson followed those comments, stating that he would not let his name stand for the Vice President, as he as taken a position on the, I want to finish my hotrod commission.

2.      Canada Engines: T. Anderson has received the engine rebuild kit from Canada Engines.  The 350 Rebuild kit is now for sale from the association ($500).  All parts are exchangeable to suit any Chev 350 1985 or older rebuild.  One half of this money goes directly to this years scholarship and the other half goes into the endowment fund of the BCSSMA.

3.      Presenters:   

June 20th – Chris Williams

July 11th – Kevin Cudmore (double header)

      4.   Web Page Comments: J. Rush has been active in creating the new web page.

      Comments at the meeting.  I like it!  We need some current pictures.  Much    `      faster!

5.   New ICBC Drivers Format: new drivers format announced this past week. 

Old Format – 6 months L – 3 months with approved drivers course. Supervised by a qualified drivers.  - 12 months N – up to ten passengers.

New Format – 12 months L – 9 months with approved drivers course. Supervised by a qualified driver 25 years of age or older.  2 years N – 1 passenger only – family exempt.

How is this going to affect the association?  Simple, most of our drivers will be grade 12’s only, with only a few grade 11’s late in the year!!!  Our numbers will decrease.  What can we do?  A) Encourage more Jr. Dragster’s B) Some how allow the driver s with a L classification to participate.

Notice of Motion:  ( 2003 AGM)  beginning in the 2004 season, a student with a L license will be allowed to run a 16 sec or slower car at a BCSSMA sanctioned event (not a national event) provided a sponsor/parent 25 years or older accompanies the student – NHRA approval required.
