1.
AGM: concerns:
■
Everyone
was concerned that the position of Chairperson and Secretary were still not
filled. An effort by all of the BCSSMA members needs to be made to resolve this
issue. In the meantime the
responsibilities for these two positions will be done on a monthly basis.
■
Kevin
Moore will chair the next meeting and Jerry Issel will do the job of
secretary.
2.
Trophy
money update:
■
Doug
Anderson has been in contact with the Langley Loafers and expressed our
concerns about trophy monies going directly to the tracks. Doug asked if they could give the money to
the BCSSMA for distribution to the zone reps. Doug will finalize this for the
next meeting.
■
Doug
will also ask if any trophy funds that are not used during the season could be
redirected into the BCSSMA scholarship fund.
3.
Newsletter
update:
■
Kevin
Moore reported for Chris Williams stating that the newsletter was almost ready
to go. Expect to see it soon.
4.
Membership
update:
■
Roger
Bortignon is organizing for next year and reminded us that the membership fee
has gone up to $50.00 for the early bird (paid by Jan. 31) or $60.00 for
delinquent fees. The extra $10.00 would go to the BCSSMA scholarship fund.
■
There
was some discussion by Kevin Moore re: Associate membership for some of the
school sponsors who provide their own racecars for student use.
5.
Meeting
with Mission on Feb. 10th.
■
Richard
Johnson and Kevin Moore will organize that meeting. They will bring a draft of the agenda for that meeting to the
next general meeting (Jan.13).
6.
New
licensing requirements:
■
Kevin
Moore has been in contact with Bill Rice and Rick Farmer re: NHRA certification
for students with an “L” license. More
discussion to follow. For now all
students must still have an “N” license.
7.
Canada
Engines:
■
Ted
Anderson reported that the last engine kit was sold. Again the money from the sale of the engine kit will go towards
the BCSSMA scholarship fund. Ted will
be seeking more kits from them.
8.
Video:
■
The
new BCSSMA video is still in the making but progress has been slow, Doug
Anderson and Kevin Moore will review.
9.
Cars
left at Mission Raceway between races:
■
A
reminder that if you would like to leave a car at the track between races that you must arrange it with Ted Anderson. Ted
must also have keys for these cars in case they need to be moved. Failure
to do so could result in your car getting towed away!
10. Colleges and the BCSSMA:
■
Kevin
Cudmore was present at the meeting representing the Surrey campus of Kwantlen
College. Kevin is teaching at the
College and has expressed an interest in getting the College involved. Kevin would also like to get other Colleges
involved and will look into organizing it.
11. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM
12. Next Meeting: January 13, 2004 at Cruisers, Langley B.C. Meeting to start at 7:00 PM. Kevin Moore to Chair.
