HIGHLANDER: City of Immortals III

**NOTE**
This is NOT a very good strategy! This is an AVERAGE strategy at best. You will have to do MUCH better than this to win consistently in this game. This is just a basic concept for you to get an idea of what it is supposed to look like.

Sample Strategy

What we know about our character (I just made this up for the record):

Mike Smith
Age: 330 years
Weapon: Rapier
Height: 510
Weight: 165 lbs.

STATS:
Speed: 63
Strength: 55
Agility: 72
Stamina: 70

What we know about our opponent:

John Kraus
Age: Unknown (hes Russian and seems old, assume older than our character)
Weapon: Broad Sword
Height: 64
Weight: 240 lbs

STATS:
Unknown

AREA OF FIGHT:
Your fighting on a Tennis court. There are three courts and it is surrounded by a cage. Its at night time and the lights are on.

ACTUAL STRATEGY:

I. Opening observations / general strategy:
Mike Smith (our character) is a good natured fighter. Judging by John Kraus eagerness to fight me and unwilling to talk out our problem, he is most likely evil natured. Unlikely neutral. Even if he is, we will not give him benefit of doubt. Kraus is likely to break the rules from time to time. Its at least possible. He is a larger character than mine, therefore he will likely be needing to use his strength to his advantage. I also anticipate that he is no fool and will realize this. However, using Agility and Stamina, in all likely hood, is not a wiser option for him. Power is his alley and my weakness here. I will attempt in the long run to tire Kraus, disarm him and finish him. Also since I have had time to prepare for this fight, I will come to the fight wearing a pair of tennis shoes, which will give me the best traction. I heard it MIGHT rain, so I brought a pair of gloves too just incase to improve my grip on my sword. I will wear a comfortable pair of exercise pants and a T-shirt to give me as much comfort during the fight as possible. I may look gay while I fight, but Id rather look gay than be handsome and dead. He is also bringing a couple of throwing knives just incase.

II. SWORD USE:
Smith is using a rapier, a smaller and lighter weapon made for stabbing or cutting moves, not hacking (ala cutting off arms and such). The Broad sword which is being used by Kraus is more able to hack and cause serious damage upon impact. Smith is aware of this. Smith realizes that a blow from a stronger Kraus will cause more damage to him because of the strength of the weapon. The blade in general is stronger than my rapier. In general sword use, I will attempt to dodge many of his blows. This is assuming my agility is higher. I have to take a chance to figure this out, though I will attempt to dodge a few of his blows. If I find that my agility is in fact higher, I will attempt to dodge most of his blows, parrying the ones which are necessary, not blocking them unless I have to. For Kraus to swing his larger sword and hit nothing would cause him more energy. This is one of my tactics in which I will use to cause Kraus to tire faster than me. This being one of the earlier steps in my long term plan. In the case that my agility is lower I will try other tactics, weave in and weave out, stab out. If I am finding that my strength is lower as well, I will try to play very defensive, still aiming at stamina being my savior. If I start wearing out and Im not holding up well in the fight, I will run away praying to God that if Im bested in Strength, Agility & Stamina, I will at least have speed on my side and leave the fight. (I could sit here and keep going on about sword stuff, but you get the general idea, I shall move on now.)

III. OPENING PLAN (Plan A so to speak)

First of all, Kraus has instigated this fight with me, so in all likelyhood, he is excited to kill me. Im guessing that he will most likely be aggressive to start off. This is fine. I will play defensive. I will play defensive initially whether or not hes aggressive or defensive. My whole hope is that my agility will be higher and therefore he can come after me and I will be able to avoid his blows and attacks and defend myself and let him wear himself out. I will do this by letting him be as aggressive as he wants to. I will dodge his shots, perhaps if Im doing this successfully I will pretend to barely get past a few so he thinks that I believe I am defeated. This will of course, not be true. I will continue to do this until he stops playing along. My major goal, if possible, is to have them follow me. However, this is unlikely. I will not be obvious in doing this, for example as soon as the fight starts, run away. I will run away after causing the other fighter to believe that I am in trouble. If I am cut, I will retreat (to get him to follow me), if Im punched in the face, Ill retreat and make him follow me some more.

I will also try things like jumping over the tennis nets. My agility should make this is an easy task for Smith and a more difficult task for my opponent. If my opponent attempts to jump over the net, I will try to pretend to sabatoge attack him so hell possibly shreak and break his full attention of clearing the net to avoiding my blow and perhaps he will get tangled on the tennis nets or trip on them. The other possibility is that he wont give any out of the ordinary response to my fake attack. If he becomes tangled or falls to the ground, I will attempt one of many things. If his sword arm is laying on the ground, I will attempt to step on his hand pinning his sword to the ground, then I will stab him in the throat or in the face to do the most damage to him possible. If he just tumbles I will attempt to cut his sword arm or stab him somewere. I will attack the sword arm because of the fact that this is his strength on me. I need to neutralize his advantage. His legs wont do him much good at me, if at this point, I have decided that my agility is higher. If I cut his sword arm, or either arm for that matter, it will make his strength advantage decrease because one of his arms has been damaged, making his strength not such a factor as it was before.

Another possibility with the net is that he will be tall enough to merely step over the rope. This choice is the most likely for it does not leave him as vulnerable as the last option did. In this case the moment he is straddling the net, I will do a quick charge against him to see if I can cause him to spill to the ground. I will hold my sword in an almost defensive position to not leave myself open to a blow in this attempt. If he falls over, I will attempt to cut him across the face or throat while we are down and on the ground. I should be able to recover from this quicker than he, so I will use my speed and agility mixed and attempt to get a cut in. Speed isnt such a factor as agility, for my speed is not impressive by most standards. In the case that he catches me in some sort of grapple and I cant break free, I will get my body as close to his as I can to avoid being punched in the face. Not only that, but I will attempt to break free by doing a move (for example kneeing them in the groin or biting them on the face). (More stuff later in strategy about what Smith will do if caught in wrestling holds).

The final possibility is that Kraus just simply walks around the net. In this case, there is little I can think of as far as using that to my advantage. He is still moving though so its better than nothing.

Something else I will be doing as often as I can, I will have my back to the brightest lights on the court. This will cause my vision of Kraus to be stronger, not to mention Kraus will have the lights in his eyes.

The general sword to sword fighting technique I will be using though is to let him attack. I will not go for heavy blows unless Kraus just makes a terrible mistake and leaves something vulnerable open (example throat or stomach). If I have a shot at his stomach, I will slash him, not stab. Immortals can keep fighting with swords through their stomachs, Ive seen it before. My main goal is to get his weapon out of his hand. I will do this by mostly stabbing at Kraus wrist. I will also attempt to cut his forarms. To disable his arms is my main objective. At any point if I get his sword out of his hands, I will pursue him and attempt to kick his sword or pick it up or throw it somewere were it will be difficult for him to retrieve it. I will throw it over the fence and outside. I will then attempt to stand in his way so he cant get to the gate to get out. I also will assume at this point in time, that he will become desparate so he will realize that there is one weapon in this cage, my rapier. The best way for him to get it from me is to tackle me or try to take it from me. I am expecting him to charge me at any moment. As he does I will attempt to side step and cut his leg out from under him, maybe an arm, hopefully his throat if I can. (Note that the #1 spot Smith is aiming for his the mans neck when he has the chance, in sword to sword combat, hes aiming for the wrists, but if the neck is exposed, hes going for it). Smith wont necessarily be trying to take the head in one stroke, but hell be trying to slash his throat, stab through it. If at any time he successfully stabs Kraus in the neck, Kraus will be weakened to a point were Smith will most likely be able to wrestle his broad sword away from him. Kraus will have blood shooting all over himself and hell like try to be getting the sword out of his neck which I have left there. I will first attempt to take his sword from him. If hes trying to get my rapier out of his neck, he will have at MAX one hand holding onto it, blood will cause his hand to be slippery and I will be able to easily take his sword from him. In that case, I will aim at getting my rapier out of his neck second, unless he has already taken it out. If he has, Ill back up and let him bleed to a point were he falls down and passes out from the lack of blood. Then I will walk over to him and remove his head with his broad sword.

IV. OPENING PLAN (Plan B)

Plan B will come into play if Kraus isnt offensive. Many of the things I said above will still apply regardless. However, if some things I have planned on dont go as planned.

If my agility is not as higher than my opponents than I hoped for, before I retreat, I will attempt a game plan. My game plan will be to neutralize his agility (and hopefully at the same time speed) by slashing or cutting at his legs. I will spend a lot of times stabbing at the hands and also at the legs (this is only if his agility is better than mine).

Something else I will consider is that he might want to run away if his speed is better than mine yet Im winning the fight. If I have a chance to take out a leg, I will do as much to keep him from running away if I have a proper chance. I will not risk myself by doing something foolish. Plus, most of my attention is on Kraus arms.

If I cant neutralize the agility or strenght and Im defeated in both and I cant wear him out, Im going to run away.

These are all more or less offensive things Im going to be doing against Kraus. Now lets look at some defensive angles.

He is most likely going to use some aggressive and more strength using tactics. One thing I think he will do is likely try to corner me. Obviously this would lead to him grappling me and mauling me like a pretzel. This cant happen. If I notice myself getting near the cage, even if its not in the corner, just the wall, I will get away from it and attempt to keep the fight in the open were I have more room to play so to speak.

He will also attempt something that larger immortals have tried against Mike Smith in the past, they will clinch with him and then attempt to yank Mikes sword right from his hands leaving him hopeless. I will keep a good distance from Kraus to make sure he cant grab me or my sword. This is most important in Mikes mind.

He also will avoid any sort of grapples, however he isnt superman so he expects he may not be able to completely avoid this. If he is wrestled down to the ground, he will do many things to cause damage to Kraus like biting him in the face or neck if he gets a chance. And if he does, he wont just nibble, hell take a chunk out of their face or neck. This is a fight to the death, this isnta time to get squeemish. Hell bite their ear off if he has to, but hes going to get this oaf off of him. Hell knee him in the groin or anything he has to do to get them off. He will NOT try to over power him until they have done something to weaken him (biting the face, neck or ear or a knee to the groin). That would be a waste of energy to do that. Its a typical wrestling move too from Smiths experience. To hold someone down who is weaker and make them struggle and waste energy.

If I get near the fence and Im cornered, something I will attempt to do if he stabs at me, is I will try to get him to stab into the fence and get his blade caught. I will also not do stabbing motions with my opponents back to the fence because he is likely going to try to get my weapon caught in the fence. If I get Kraus sword stuck in the fence, Ill cut his hand off if possible, then back swing and attempt to cut his throat.

The fight is likely to spill out of the tennis courts into the fields beyond. The fields are very dark. I will try to keep quiet and I will try to keep myself as invisible to Kraus view as possible and attempt to catch him off guard. I will keep his back to the field as well so I can see better. As the distance increases, the light will become poorer. If the light is coming from over his shoulders, he wont be able to see into the darkness as well. I will not go into the woods, he has the advantage there. I will stand in the field and wait for him, but I wont go into the woods.

TO THOSE WHO ARE READING THIS FOR TIPS: I could sit here and continue to talk for a long ass time, but I wont. Ill move onto the next section of the roleplay.

V. WHAT-IFS

Now there are a lot of possible things that could go down that are the typical attacks. Here are some possible situations below and my reactions to them.

a) The attacker pulls out a gun and starts shooting at me. What can I do except attempt to run or I will throw one of my throwing knives at him if I have nowere to run to. His gun is more likely to hit me, but it will do no more damage than a knife if I connect. If Ive been shot up badly, I will attempt to retreat somewere to heal my wounds. If this doesnt work, more or less Im dead. But I will say to the asshole I guess this means Im a better swordsman than you since you obviously werent confident enough to fight me fairly. Very well, just remember, your getting my quickening so Ill be inside of you. And dont forget, in the future when you try to have sex, know Ill make sure you dont succeed! The second half of that message is assuming he isnt in one of those Take his head immediately phases. The first half Ill say as long as I can.
b) If Im attacked by a stray animal or someone I wasnt expecting, I will not be a hero and fight both off, Ill run away. If Im slower than the person Im fighting, Ill attempt to cut their leg or at least knock them down and make a break for it. I will not run while they are up. If an animal or unknown person (other than a legit cop) Ill stab them and keep fighting. I will not lose because of outside interferance.
c) I will expect the following weapons to be used against me: Daggers, throwing knives, small bombs, implanted blades (on their forarms, legs or other places). I will also expect some sort of range weapon to be a factor. If a range weapon is ever even visable, Ill attempt to take it from them (if possible) and use it against them to take their cheating heads or Ill run away quickly.

If he tries to use a dagger or throwing knife on me, Ill dodge them and I will also arm myself with one of my throwing knives. If he is using a dagger, Ill use my knife as a dagger as well. However, this is stupid because of his big his sword is. Ill throw it at him.

Okay, I could write tons more, but I dont fee like it.

VI. Conclusion

a) There will be no speech before I destroy him unless he is completely down. If so Ill say Just because I wear spandex to the fight, doesnt mean I cant fight! chop. Or something cheesy like that.
b) I will not spare him even if he begs.
c) I will say a prayer of his dead body for God to forgive him for being an asshole
d) I will not take his money.
e) I will take his sword.
f) I will turn off the lights in the tennis courts (assuming the quickening didnt blow them out.
g) I will leave the scene quickly.
h) I will not leave finger prints.
i) I will wash the blood from my weapon(s) including my new broad sword. I will use my lotion stuff I noted in my bio and clean the blood from them.
