Home page of the Republican Party of Highland, Indiana
The Highland Republican Central
Committee is the primary Republican political agency serving the
residents of Highland, Indiana. Our purpose is to convey
information about the Republican Party and its candidates to the
town's citizens in order that they may make an informed choice as
to how to exercise their rights in choosing their governmental
representatives at all levels of government.
The Highland Republican Central
Committee serves to register voters, assist political candidates
in passing out informational literature and securing yard sign
locations, providing volunteers to assist candidates, and
providing staffing of polling places on Election Day.
The Highland Republican Central
Committee is comprised of 26 precinct committeemen (one for each
of Highland's 26 precincts) and a vice-committeeman for each
precinct. The precinct committeemen elect a Chairman,
Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer from their ranks. Every
four years (next in 2005), all precinct committeemen from
throughout Lake County gather in a County Convention to elect a
County Chairman and officers. After this election, the County
Chairmen meet in District Caucuses to elect District Chairmen.
The District Chairmen then meet to elect a State Chairman and
officers. Those officers elect national committeemen who in turn
elect the officers of the Republican National Committee.
The Highland Republican Central
Committee is a not-for profit subsidiary of the Lake County
Republican Central Committee. We are an equal opportunity
organization open to individuals of all races and both sexes. We
welcome any and all who profess the Republican Party principles
of limited government and traditional values.
