HOW YOU CAN HELP

If you believe in the principles of the Republican Party, we want and need your assistance. There are many positions available.

Precinct Committeeman

The Precinct Committeeman is the closest representative of the party to the town resident. The committeeman is responsible for getting to know his precinct, identifying supporters of Republican candidates, and making sure they vote. This may entail driving them to the polls or providing them with absentee ballot applications. The committeeman is also responsible for finding two to three workers to staff the polling place on Election Day. The precinct committeeman should spend all day outside the polling place, greeting voters and asking them to vote for Republican candidates. The committeeman should always be on the lookout for potential workers and volunteers, as well as other citizens who will support Republican candidates by placing a yard sign in front of their house or making a financial contribution. Finally, the committeeman has an obligation to attend a monthly precinct meeting and participate in the governance of the organization.

Poll Workers

Each polling place is staffed by an Inspector (a Democrat due to their winning county vote total in the last Secretary of State's race), and from each party, a Judge and a Clerk. (During the Primary Election, each party also provides a Sheriff to maintain order.) The Inspector and the two Judges comprise the precinct election board. They make all decisions (with direction from the county election board) as to who votes. The Judge is also responsible for the operation of the voting machine. The Clerk is responsible for checking voters in as they come to vote. These are paid positions, which require the individual to be at the polling place from 5:30 a.m. until after the polls close at 6:00 p.m.

Other volunteers

The precinct organization is always in need of individuals who will walk door-to-door to distribute information, make phone calls and put up yard signs. Perhaps most importantly, the organization also needs people who are willing to make financial contributions so that the Republican message can be received by the town's residents.
