My Mr. Potato Les Paul copy:               Jackson JRR30:                 Simon Strat copy:

A "Level 2" LP copy with no               This is the cheapest Randy Rhoades-style       Another nice ebay find here.  Got it new for

upgrades as of yet.  (Though I           guitar that I've found that is actually made            very cheap (I've never heard of Simon, have

doubt I'll want any).                             by Jackson.  I used the money I saved to           you?).  Decent guitar for the price, but then

put in a brand new set of Zakk Wylde EMG's         added a GFS rail humbucker in the bridge and

(81 bridge; 85 neck) that I found cheap on ebay.         EMG SES single-coils in the middle and neck

positions (again, all p/ups found on ebay).

Mr. Potato LP clips:  (all clips edited in Sound Forge 6)

*First three clips recorded through a PodXT*

Enter Sandman clip : Amp models used on Pod:  clean -- variax accoustic;  distorted -- spinal puppet.  I figured this would show a little of both clean and distorted.  Bridge pickup used for both the clean and distorted parts.   I know the editing on one part is really bad but I was in a hurry to get these posted.  Drum beats created with Fruity Loops 3.

Small Tube Overdrive :  Amp model: Vox AC-30.  This is a slightly overdriven tube amp sound while using the neck pickup.

Lead Tone : Amp models: clean -- Roland JC-120;  lead -- Soldano SLO-100 with Ibanez Tubescreamer.  Used the bridge pickup on the clean, neck pickup for the lead.  I always liked this setting for lead playing.  The Soldano setting in the pod by itself has a a great lead tone, but adding the Tubescreamer really helps it cut through.

*Following two clips recorded from a Pignose G40V all-tube amp through a $10 Arista dynamic mic*

Highway to Hell clip : Had volume (preamp) at about 8, master at 2.  Used bridge pickup on guitar.  This amp can dial in some great classic rock distortion.

Four Horsemen : Tried to see how close I could get to an old-school metal sound with this amp.  Turned preamp all the way up, and added an OD pedal with its drive turned all the way up.  The OD pedal is some $30 Korean pedal I got while I'm wating for my TS-9 to get replaced.  So, it would probably sound better with the TS-9, or with my Jackson RR instead of the Potato LP, since the RR has the EMG's in it.
