| Introduced in 1971, the XY Falcon GTHO was the fastest production sedan in the world. It was known as the 'SHAKER' or the 'PHASE III'. With 291Kw (390bhp) of tyre scorching grunt, the PHASE III will easily keep up with today's modern fuel-injected V8's. The SHAKER was produced with a 351 cubic inch (5.8L) 16 valve pushrod V8, mated to a 4 speed manual transmission and a 9 inch 28 Spine Limited Slip Diff or optional 31 Spine Detroit Locker. In it's standard form the PHASE III was capable of 0-100km/h in 6.5secs, quarter mile in 14.4secs and a top speed of 223km/h. A genuine 1971 XY Falcon GTHO in mint condition can be worth up to A$125 000. It just goes to show that breath-taking performance, muscular styling and a to-die-for exhaust note doesn't always come cheap.
