Her father left when she was 13 and her mom took to working full time to support her and her younger sister. In her spare time, she watched every wrestling show she could catch and she worked out constantly to ease her tension. Jogging and aerobics became her life. At the age of 16, Nichelle continued going to school but took a part time job in the evening to make things easier on her mother. After graduating from High School, she made her way to San Francisco and attended a wrestling promotion show. She began talking to a few people and became interested in becoming a wrestler. She was advised to try out and someone would contact her. A few years went by before she heard anything. She trained hard for 2 years and competed in shows around her city for people who wanted to become wrestlers. Along with winning many competitions, she received an award for being the best rookie on the team. One evening, she received a phone call and she was offered a contract for 5 years.
