Maybe you remember Cathy mentioning a special chess match. Kenny Hamann seems to be one of the IYT players with the highest official rates, so I challenged him. :)

The game is running slowly so far, even for correspondence chess. Any comment would be given too soon, the opening can't be defined yet either, but I try to avoid my favorized, sometimes too optimistic variations, playing for the club and not for unlimited creativity. ;)

I take this opportunity to tell a bit about the international rating system ...

At the top there are grandmasters, international masters and national masters, in correspondence it is similar. There, you have to qualify for the master class - win it twice and you earn the title
'Correspondence Chess Master' ... If you accomplish to gain 66% of the possible score against them in further tournaments, the next step is done >> International Correspondence Chess Master!

Again the goal, would be making 66% against equally rated opponents to be promoted to a Correspondence Chess Grandmaster. All these titles would have to be confirmed every 2nd of the following years to remain valid, by achieving the qualifying result again ...

For regular chess it is the same, just the entry to mastership is, making 50% against fide-masters, e.g. no tourney-class like above. The FIDE is the world's chess association ... Left to say - a world champion will be grandmaster for lifetime without being forced
to repeat his qualifying rate ...

Message: Some of these changes may affect your user profile. More on that below.

I'm pleased to announce two changes to your user profile: time zones, and ratings for every game.

Time zones: You can now enter the time zones that you're in. All the times on ItsYourTurn.com will reflect your local time. This includes times on the game status page as well as times under the game boards.

Ratings for all games: You can now enter your rating for all games, not just a select few. Under ACCOUNT on the left side click on "Edit ratings".

Other changes, please read: We have also changed the state and country to drop-down lists. We have tried to move as much information from the old information into this new format. However, there were times when we couldn't figure out which state or country was being referenced. In this case, we have left the field marked as "None Selected". We encourage everyone to take a look at their user profile to make sure their city, state, and country are entered correctly. To do this, look under the ACCOUNT section on the left side of your screen, and click on "Edit user profile". Thanks.

WANGOHUTCH - Lots of kewl links and information, I really enjoyed your site.. tried to sign the guestpage.. but, was having difficulty getting to the page. I will return though.. Anyone interested in web design should really check this site out.. lots of examples and ideas to think of.

Alanback you have done a wonderful job on your website. I must say, alot of time and skill has gone into your pages... I am at the 179th position for Battleboats plus tournaments.. sounds like a large number, but when you see how many are in the list you will see I am in the top 10% or 20%.

Hello fellow gamers, I don't know if anyone knows Barry Hatfield, but he was a very good person and a good chess player (I couldn't beat him) well not to make everyone feel down and I hope it doesn't because it's not what he would have wanted, but he passed away Wednesday after a lengthy illness.
I'm just posting this message for people who had a chance to get to know him and for people who didn't know him and as to what kind of person he was to all who knew him.
Barry will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

Webtvers' need more speed? try this!!!!!!

Are you spending way to much time watching the world spin?                                        THEN you are having javascript failures, to abort use your esc key.
To do this hold down your esc key before using your back key... you should see instant improvement,that will improve,as you use it more...   I think we are sending request to our server(wtv) to do things (for us) and then going on to something else before getting the first
request filled.That leaves us hanging in no mans land. let webtv give you what you ask for.
When you change your mind ,for whatever reason,(site not loading fast enough,you want to go some place different,etc.)

Use your esc key with your back key to cancel your first request.
Again ,hold down the esc key then use your back key.....one more thing, you can unload your back key,just keep pushing it until you hear a bong.

Try it and let me know if it helped i have been using this method a few days now and i'm convinced it works.

Well it is the middle of February already.. My!! how time flies.. and most of this year IYT has been acting up.. I remember around this time last year.. It was acting up also.. I wonder if this is when they take their company vacation??... and just make it appear to be hardware.. *giggle* Anyway,... although we have our addictions.. we also need to remember that they are trying their best to get it back up and running.. In the mean time, when it is down like this.. why not take advantage and ask a friend for a game at the Yahoo site.. alot of games are the same.. I had played reversi with a friend here.. but, that was when I first got online... Or take the poll... go through the newsletter.. check out some links.. make suggestions on what you would like to see in the club, or on the newsletter.. You can also upload your photos.. work on your profiles.. create your own web pages.. so that we here at the club can see your individual's taste.. and, If I can make one... anyone can.. hehehe.. Hey!... you could even post a joke.... just make sure to censor it.. since there are families here in the club... maybe put a warning on the subject line..
But, whatever you fancy... Have fun doing it... and remember we will all be at IYT soon again... This issue include a kids page.. and you will also notice I have placed a link on the home page for just them... Please feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.. I believe that I will try to include one new kids korner a month.. with activities and information.. If you missed the first one... it was in the second edition I believe... but, wasn't stated just as the Kids Korner...
