| The dark gray cloud of terrorism that hangs over our nations greatest cities in the aftermath of an act of cowardice and treachery by enemies unknown will forever be engraved in our memories. The icon of freedom and democracy has not been destroyed. The empty space in the skyline where great symbols once stood has been replaced with the spirit and courage that forged our great nation; the lives and blood of our mothers, fathers, friends and neighbors has not been lost in vein, but will forever serve as a reminder to the world that evil has no boundaries. The barbaric attack on our innocent people has not crumbled our convictions to freedom, liberty and justice, but has brought us closer together and made us stronger as a nation. The rain that falls on our cities of hope and dreams is meerly tears from angels falling from heaven to wash away our sorrow and grief in our collective time of need.
