Assignment 11: Internet Use Survey

How often and in what ways do you use the Internet in your other classes? Do you find articles, access databases, download graphics and multimedia files, or surf pages related to your topic of research?
  • Do you use the Net for other classes? If so, which are they? Describe the course and how you used the Net for whatever assignment or project. Be specific.
  • How helpful was the Net? Was it more useful than if you had used conventional means, e.g., finding books and periodicals in the library?
  • Would it help if core classes in your major, or general education classes at Ewha were online?
  • Would you like to see other English or other language courses online? If so, what would they be?
Every class I take in Ewha acquires me to use the Net to search the resources for the subjects. For examples, in the Marketing Management course, I am having discussions with whole classmates in the Ewha Cyber Campus and creating a web page of a corporate analysis as a group. In the International Business, it is such an essential job to search a lot about the issues and sources in the Net. Because we are normally handling on the past corporates' cases which means it is already solved and there are already potential solutions out there. It helps the class to find and learn about the cases and also get more advanced thinking about the issue.

It is helpful to use the Net. Flood of wide information from the net gives a brief idea about the issue quickly. So, I used to start work with the Net to get general concept. But, I don't trust every information from the Net. I frequently find some incorrect description and gives me a chaos. I normally get some clues from brief searching the Net, then go to the library and find a book of eminent author.

As I mentioned above, I only get brief ideas from the Net. So, I don't think I would trust 100% using the Net to get academical sources for my Major courses. But, as there are so many business courses handling current issues, I use the Net to search some News sites and societal association. To answer the question about using the Net for the major or the general course, I have to say I use the Net for the Major courses. Why? I have not been having general studies since 2002.

Well, I am not sure to have language course online next time. Frankly speaking, it doesn't seem to be helpful to have language course online. Cuz, studying throught the Net makes me lazy. And I think the interaction between the tutor and student, face to face, is very essential when learning a language.
