RETROGRADE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a huge room surrounded by pillars. A long silken curtain connected each pillar and covered the room with it's radiance. In the middle sat a beautiful couple. One wore an orange robe which was made of rich silk that rustled with his every move. He had dark hair that shone with a deep blue tinge when light reflected on it. He had long pointed ears and wore pearls around his frail body. His skin white as snow, without a hint of color on it, jewelry of gold with black pearls embedded on them. There was one word to describe him. Beautiful.
His companion sat beneath him. Resting his head on his right knee. The robe he wore was brown and the material much tougher. He was also beautiful but the latter's beauty shone even brighter. His golden hair fell into his face from a golden crown around his brow. It reached down to his knees and glowed ghastly in the dim light coming from behind the curtains and the pillars.
"Master." a voice suddenly called from behind them. "It's time. Everyone's in position."
"Good..." said the one with golden hair. He lifted his face, green eyes shining in the dark. "Tell them to stand by. Remember," he continued, "Nobody moves without my command." he looked at the direction of the voice. "Is that understood?"
"Yes, master." answered the other man.
The man looked at his companion and was met by golden eyes. Golden eyes that pierced through his soul. He reached out and touched the other's full red lips which contrasted greatly with the ghostly white face. The eyes stared at him as he leaned closer and breathed the other's delicate smell in.
"Well? Was that good enough?" he asked the other. "I know you're hungry, and so am I, but if this is the way you want it..."
"You did well." the other said in a soft melodic voice.
"I would do anything for you..." replied the other as he pressed his lips gently on the other's lips in a passionate kiss.
"I know..." his companion thought in his mind. He slowly closed his eyes as they got lost in the kiss.
After a while, the golden hared one knelt before his companion. The other one just looked down at him and touched his pale hand on the other's chick, softly caressing it.
"I must go now, Fera," he said as he closed his eyes from the other's touch, "I join you in the feast later on."
"No." said Fera with a smile on his beautiful face. "You've imprisoned me long enough."
"But..." complained his companion.
"I want to feel blood flowing in my hands...to feel live escaping from my very grasp..." he said as he looked at his frail hands and made a fist. "I want to kill again."
Fera held his companion's face and caressed it again. His friend closed his ayes and gave a sigh as he touched his hand with his own.
"Fera..." he said, "If it is your wish...then let it be."
The two of them left the room. Hand in hand, they got ready for the battle.
The village was small, but it was enough to fill their hunger. Fera watched from a distance as he rode on a black stallion with his companion. They watched as numerous soldiers turned the village into flames. Humans ran in all direction, only to be killed by enraged yuuki. There was no where to run. No where to go.
"There...are you satisfied now." said the golden hared one.
"I said I wanted to kill. Not to watch your soldiers from a distance!" replied Fera sarcastically.
"Hmph. As you wish." said his companion. "Toji." he said, calling to a red hared man with beads around his neck. "Accompany Fera to the village. Don't let her leave your side."
"I'm not a child, Mayef." said Fera with a snarl. "I don't need a baby sitter!" He turned away from Toji and started to leave.
"Fera, wait!" called Toji after him. "Fera!" but Fera was already gone. He disappeared into mist and was blown away with the wind.
Toji looked at the space where Fera had been and frowned.
"Toji" he called to his soldier. "Go follow her."
"Yes, master." replied Toji as he followed after Fera.
"Mama..." cried a child in a tattered kimono as he cried at the dead body of his mother, soaking in her own blood. He felt a shadow over him and looked up. "Mama?" asked the child.
Ghostly white hands suddenly reached out to him and grabbed him on the neck, lifting him from the ground.
"MA-!!" cried the child as he got face to face with a pale yuuki. The golden eyes pierced through his soul, enabling him to move and utter another word.
"Lucky little ningen." said Fera with a snarl. "Your death with be swift. You shall be the first to fill my hunger." he opened his mouth, showing sharp fangs which was willing to sink into the young child's tender neck.
Fera suddenly looked up as he felt energy coming his way in tremendous speed. He got out of the way just in time to dodge from an enormous fire ball and looked at the direction from which it came from. What he saw sent a quiver through his pale body.
"Raizen..." he said in almost a whisper.
"Let the child go, Fera" said Raizen in a harsh and commanding voice.
"Why Raizen," replied Fera, regaining his poise. "Is that any way to greet your former lover?'
Raizen looked at him menacingly. Fera simply stared back at him. Emotion forever absent in his beautifully pale face.
"Shut up! Put the child down!"
"Oh, c'mon," mocked Fera, "Don't tell me you're still mad about that filthy woman."
"Don't you talk about her like that!" yelled Raizen protectively.
"That bitch stole you away from me!" Fera shouted back, anger suddenly evident in his voice as his eyes burned with anger. "She deserved to die! Just like all the other humans in this accursed world!" a tear suddenly dripped from Fera's golden eyes an a tremendous amount of energy dissipated from his body. Raizen felt this and shivered from its strength.
"Fera Stop it!" he yelled as he gathered all his energy to try and counter Fera's attack.
Fera's energy turned into a black cyclone, eating everything that came across its path and growing stronger along its way. Raizen pointed a finger at it's direction and released a huge energy ball. He gasped for breath from the effort and watched as the huge cyclone overpowered his hit. He was sure to lose this time.
"Raizen." Fera thought to himself as he saw a bead of perspiration fall from Raizen's face. "You were never a match from me, but your foolishness have weakened you even more. But..." he closed his eyes as past memories of their time together suddenly flooded into his mind.
Fera gasped. She saw Raizen and himself as they used to play with each other, fight with each other, make love with each other. The things that she thought would never end.
"Raizen..." she said as she looked at her lover with sad eyes. "You win. You always do."
With that, Fera stretched her arms out, making the raging cyclone disappear as it was inches away from Raizen. The energy ball speed up and went straight through it, hitting Fera and wounding her with it's sharp winds. Fera didn't cry out. She looked at Raizen before she shut her eyes tightly, the wind stinging and cutting her pale flesh.
Raizen looked at her wide eyed in disbelief. He knew that Fera could have finished him off easily, but she chose to let him win instead. He watched as the energy ball engulfed her. As Fera covered her face with her arms, unable to take the unbearable pain. She didn't shout out. She never screamed in pain. She was too proud to do so. The energy ball went past the village and through the air, carrying Fera along with it. It hit the top of a snow covered mountain, sending shards of rock in all direction.
"Fera..." Mayef felt the ground tremble from the explosion. He felt the enormous energy coming from Fera, but now it was gone.
"Master! Called one of his soldiers, "Raizen and his minions have arrived! His planning to seal the gates between the two worlds!" Mayef felt a chill run down his spine as he thought of Fera "Master, we must return at once!"
"Not without Fera!" he replied stubbornly as he looked around the village for any sign of his companion.
"But master, we have to..."
"No!" Mayef said firmly.
An energy ball suddenly emerged from behind him. Mayef barely got away as strands of his hair flew in the air. He looked at where the hit came from and saw Raizen standing there, his face covered by raged hair, the burning village behind him.
"Raizen..." said Mayef.
"Mayef. Leave now, if you value your life more than Fera did." said Raizen in a full emotionless voice.
"No..." Mayef said to himself in disbelief. "FERA!!"
It was a small village burned into ashes. Another yuuki attack had just taken place. Human bodies lay on the ground as the survivors moaned over them.
"From this day forth, yuuki are no longer allowed to enter the Ningenkai." said Raizen as his soldiers led the stray yuuki back into Makai. "Anyone caught disobeying, shall pay with their lives."
In the midst of the icy mountain, covered by wounds lay a pale body, shivering naked in the dreadful cold. Her eyes have lost their shine as a golden symbol like that of an inverted triangle gave off a pale glow from his white forehead.
""Raizen..." he gasped as he fought for dear life. "...so cold..."In her mind, past memories came rushing back, as her past passed before her eyes. "Won't you hold me the way you used to?" she taught to himself. "You promised to hold me forever..." a tear dropped from her wounded face as she saw Raizen getting farther and farther away. "Why, Raizen, why?"
Fera felt the last of her strength leave her. She closed her eyes as consciousness left her tattered body.
Back in the village stood Raizen of the Mozoku tribe. The most powerful of all yuuki. He looked at the distant mountain, his face covered by shadows as a tear slowly flowed from his cheek.
"Fera" he said, leaning his head. "You should have finished me off... why did you spare my life?"
