"So?" Yusuke asked. The Reikai Tentai were sitting in Yusuke's room.
The rain was falling quite heavily outside, with the sound of thunder rumbling
every so often. All eyes were on Botan.
"Hmm?" Botan responded.
"The girl," Kurama said, "And whatever else we need to
know."
"Oh!" The ferry girl giggled, "She's a fairly good fighter, not
as good as any of you but she'll learn I'm sure.
"She was raised by one of the Elite, who'd found her on one of his
missions. He was training her to take his place someday. He was aging, but was
still very powerful.
"Last week, someone attacked the Gate of Judgement. In the attack, Shishiko
was injured, and her mentor was killed. She killed a fellow student for his...
inappropriate actions afterwards. Lord Koenma saved her from punishment and
decided to send her here.
"King Enma gave her a human body shape for however long she stays in the
Ningenkai."
"That's it huh?" Yusuke said dully, casting a glance to the balcony
where Shishiko was perched on all fours on the railing. She seemed to not care
that she was getting soaked through, and was intently staring at the cityscape
below.
"Mm hmm," Botan said cheerily, "Quite strange really. I'm not
sure what to think of her myself, but she seems nice enough."
"I'm not sure I want to fight alongside a girl," Kuwabara grumbled,
"She could get hurt! This work is dangerous!"
"You might be right," Botan said, looking out onto the balcony,
"She's got a lot of her energy spread out rather thin that it loses a lot
of its power. We were hoping that she might learn to focus a little better but
she's not showing any sign of doing that."
While the investigators spoke of the situation, which soon turned to friendly
conversation as the night wore on, Shishiko watched the city with seemingly
limitless patience. Patience, if anything, was lacking in the girl's mind.
'If I were to jump from here, could I reach that tower over there?' she silently
asked herself, 'Master would know. But he doesn't know anymore does he?'
'Those cars look so small from up here, I bet they would be fun to hunt at that
size,' Her thoughts continued, 'Would they stay that size if I were to attack
one now?'
'You should be ready for a fight at any time, what if any daemons show up,' She
chided herself, 'But if daemons show up, I think that the humans can help take
care of them, they won before remember?'
Her thoughts went on like this, until she felt a surge of energy close by.
Startled, she jumped back off the railing and onto the balcony as the shadow
landed near to where she had been sitting.
Red eyes met golden for a minute as Hiei sized up the stranger on Yusuke's
porch. There was something familiar but he couldn't quite see it, so he shrugged
and entered the apartment.
"Hello Hiei," Kurama said, nodding politely in the fire daemon's
direction.
Hiei mumbled something in response. The girl on the balcony entered the
apartment and stood by the door. Water dripped down from her soaked clothes and
hair, and started forming into a puddle around her feet.
Yusuke gave a sour look at the water, "So where is she going to stay?"
"I could bring her to the Temple," Kurama suggested.
"Good idea!" Yusuke beamed, "I have to sleep soon because of
school and all that so if you all don't min-"
"School? Yusuke it's the middle of summer vacation," Kuwabara gave his
friend a confused look.
"Oh, I mean I have to keep a schedule for when I go to school," Yusuke
corrected himself. Kurama gave him an amused look, but kept quiet.
Hiei turned to see the girl watching him. There was something in that look that
reminded him of a predator watching its next meal. It was unnerving, and he had
no intention of being a prey.

Kurama, Hiei, and Shishiko arrived at the Temple Genkai was caretaker of. The
rain had stopped but the sky was still overcast and there were puddles of
rainwater everywhere.
When they reached the archway over the path leading to the structure, Shishiko
dashed to the porch of the building. Kurama glanced at Hiei, who he found
staring back at him with a confused look on his face. One second she had been
beside them, and then a second later she had been at the temple doors. They had
seen her move, but she had been moving at a speed that most wouldn't be able to
outrun, or even see. Hiei could move faster, he knew, but not by much.
She paced before the doors and stared back at the two on the path. Hiei was
suddenly beside her, as was Kurama was a few seconds later.
They entered the temple. The old woman that took care of the place sat in the
middle of the large room in a meditative state.
"Mistress Genkai!" Shishiko exclaimed, jumping forwards.
The old woman opened her eyes and smiled, "Well, hello child. It's been a
while since I've seen you. You've grown up a little"
"You've grown down," the girl giggled.
"Yes, I'm told age does that to you sometimes," the old woman looked
past Shishiko to Kurama and Hiei, "And what can I do for you?"
"We were going to ask if she can stay here for a little while," Kurama
said, "She's been assigned to help us."
"I don't see a problem with it," Genkai replied, "Hiei, you
staying as well?"
The fire daemon considered a minute before responding, "Yes I think I
shall."
"I have to get home," Kurama said, "I don't want to be missed and
make mother worry."
"Goodbye Kurama," Genkai said, "Do stay safe."
"I will Mistress Genkai," Kurama replied, "Goodbye
everyone."
"Bye," Hiei said.
"Goodbye," Shishiko followed.
Afterwards Hiei proceeded to leave the temple to find a tree to sleep in.
Shishiko, meanwhile, explored the Temple grounds with unending curiosity until
she got too tired to continue and slept where she stopped.

This is very fun. I'm sorry there isn't much yet but hopefully it will get
better soon.
