Violation of the Sixth Commandment
epilogue

The phone rang, as she expected it to. Keiko snatched up the receiver. "Hello?"

"Honey, hi," her husband's voice said on the other end of the line. "I'm coming home tomorrow, and I've got great news!"

"Really?" she feigned enthusiasm. "What is it?"

"I got the money I need!" Ben almost screamed joyfully into her ear. "Kipling made me partner! Keiko, I cinched this deal!"

"Congratulations!" Keiko tried to be as excited as he was. "That's... fabulous news! You deserve it."

"Aww, you make my heart swell, dear," he teased her. She hoped her laughter didn't sound strained. "I'll see you tomorrow, then."

"Yeah, I can't wait. Missed you."

"Missed you too. Bye."

"Bye." Then a soft click, and Keiko replaced the handset.

She then leaned back on the sofa, sitting motionless as a statue. She ran a hand down her face, tiredly, as if to erase the somber look she had on since yesterday.

Yes, it was only yesterday, was it? Though it felt more like years.

Yesterday was when Yusuke left.

"Will I still see you again?" Keiko asked as he stood before her, that Sunday night, in front of Genkai's temple.

He had grinned cheekily. "When you do, you'll gonna have to be hot, naked, and making love to me."

"I'll do that." They laughed, but it died shortly.

Yusuke hoisted his duffel bag over his shoulder. "Take care of yourself," he told her in a tone that was almost fatherly, but equally loving.

She nodded. "I will. You be careful, all the more."

Yusuke slid his finger down the curve of her cheek. Then he dropped his bag -- it resounded with a loud thud on the dry, hard earth -- and grabbed her, engulfing her in a tight, big hug. She buried her face on his shoulder, trying hard not to cry.

When she tilted her chin up to meet his stare, he brought his mouth to hers and kissed her. They put their whole being into that kiss, their mouths fused so perfectly together one might think they were welded.

Anyone present during that time would surely think how well their bodies fit together, like two links on a chain.

And how deplorable it was for these two -- who seem to be the two halves to one soul -- that they had to spend the rest of their lives apart.

Yusuke broke away first. "If ever you develop amnesia," he lamely tried to joke, "please forget everything else, except the fact that I love you more than anything else."

Her eyes brimmed with tears. "And if ever you knock you head somewhere really solid," she kidded him as well, her voice as light as she could make it, "block out everything else, but the last few weeks we spent together. Then you will know that you remain my only love."

He released her and picked up his bag, but she held on to his hand a little longer. A tear in space appeared all of a sudden, growing larger, swallowing Yusuke from behind. He backed into it, with only a regretful smile for her to remember as he let his hand slip away.

Fresh tears now rolled down the side of her face. "I miss him already," she whispered.

We all know, of course, that she wasn't thinking of Ben.

They say no secrets are left hidden for long.
Maybe Ben will find out about Keiko's infidelity...

Directly from her? Or from their neighbors?

And what if Keiko got pregnant, after all? And what if it were
Yusuke's child?

All the "what ifs" are now unimportant, because as far as we're concerned,
this is where the Violation of the Sixth Commandment
ends.

Before I Let You Go
by FreeStyle

I can still remember yesterday,
We were so in love in a special way
Knowing that you loved me made feel oh so right
Now I feel lost don't know what to do;
Each and everyday I think of you

Because you've gone and left me standing all alone
And I know I've got to face tomorrow on my own

But baby before I let you go I want to say I love you
I hope that you're listening coz it's true, ooh baby
You'd be forever in my heart, and I know that no one else will do
And so before I let you go I want to say
I love you.

I wish that it could be just like before
I know I could have given you so much more
Even though you know I've given you all my love
I miss your smile, I miss your kiss
Each and everyday I reminisce
'Cause baby it's you that I'm always dreaming of

Because you've gone and left me standing all alone
And I know I've got to face tomorrow on my own

But baby before I let you go I want to say I love you
I hope that you're listening coz it's true, ooh baby
You'd be forever in my heart, and I know that no one else will do
And so before I let you go I want to say
I love you.

Letting love go is never easy
But I love you so that's why I'll set you free
And I know, someday,
Somehow, I'll find a way
To leave it all behind me,
Guess it wasn't meant to be but baby....

Before I let you go I want to say I love you
I hope that you're listening coz it's true, ooh baby
You'd be forever in my heart, and I know that no one else will do
And so before I let you go I want to say
I love you.
