Rio's Movie Reviews:
Bulletproof Monk (***.5 stars/5 stars)---This isn't one of those typical corny movies. This is an action-packed movie about how a monk, who is the protector of something or other, teaches a street kid. I really liked it. Go out and rent it (Rigo...There's your action movie. Gimme some more names and I'll rate them)The Others (****.5 stars/5 stars): The Others was a great movie. It was scary, and all the characters were played very well. Even though this movie was not extremely scary, it gives you the shivers sometimes (especially when the dead rise). Definitely a most-see.
Jeepers Creepers 2 (** stars/5 stars): Jeepers Creepers The Sequel let me down. The movie was not scary at all, with this movie just being a typical identical repeat of the first one. See it if you don't like scary movies, have no life, and at the end you'll end up wanting to kill the producer.
The Ring(***** stars/5 stars): Great movie. Very scary. Loved it. If you've already seen the ring, check out the original japanese version Ringu to get an extra scare.
Lord of the Rings (*** stars/5 stars): Well. I was quite disappointed about this movie. I was expecting a spectacular finish, and I was also expecting Orlando Bloom to do some real acting. This movie was a drowned-out movie. I think everyone would be happier if it ended after 2.5 hours. Nonetheless, the scenery was great, and the special effects were awesome.
Bringing Down The House (**** stars/5 stars): This movie was very good. At first I had doubts about this movie and never thought that I would see it. Queen Latifah proved me wrong. This movie was full of insight, laughter, and drama. The only criticism I have is that the movie is quite racist and that they should have extended the length!
Mona Lisa Smile (***** stars/5 stars): I would say that Julia Roberts "made" this movie. In my opinion, this movie was the best picture of the year. Julia Roberts brings a strong sense of appeal as an art professer at Wellesley College. She teaches everyone to think beyond the norm, and use their creativity. I would recommend this for kids of all ages, and strongly encourage everyone to see it.
Peter Pan (**.5 stars/5 stars): Well. I have to say that I wasn't expecting much from this movie. It is a movie for kids up to 10 years old, and that's it. It is much too childlike from a kid older. The only saving grace from this movie was that the special effects were fantastic.
A Beautiful Mind (***.5 stars/5 stars): I thought that this movie was a well made documentory. It was very insightful. The only criticism that I had is that many things that are supposed to be subtle hints of what is happening are hard to understand.
Titanic (***** stars/5 stars): Titanic is my favorite movie of all time. It has great drama while people escape this ship to save their lives. I think it is very touching, and has the best of everything in it, including one of my favorite songs "My Heart Will Go On", by Celine Dion.
