The Life of Working Students

by Joy Negradas

POVERTY IS NOT A hindrance to success.

This quotation encouragers us to pursue our studies despite the countless trials that we encounter in life.

Being a working student is not an easy task. Strong self-determination is your only assurance and your best weapon. They serve as an armor along the unexpected circumstances that you will meet. You always need balanced attention between work and studies. You need to adjust to your environment. But the most important lesson that you should learn is on how to love your work, for it is our  direction towards the realization of our dreams.

"Duty first before pleasure." It is the working students' rule. Work and study are primarily preeminent in our life. Without these, everything will be immobilized. Naturally, the consequence of it is failure in our studies. We need to exert effort, time, patience, endurance and presence for us to move on.

We do believe that we can only give the right definition of success if we find GOD in everything we do. Christ must be the center of our life. He is our inspiration in our daily undertakings.

A working student must be proud of himself or herself.

Our work serves as our stepping stone for our future profession; it is the best training ground. It is the proof of being independent-minded which symbolizes maturity.

To all working students, all I can say is cheer up and let us be proud of ourselves. Try your best to find your own special way, which is the way to achieve success in life without depending on the support of anybody else.

Success lies in our hands. And it awaits us in the future.
