Solitaire

by Clifford Marshal Ablaza

A piece, a broken shard of a puzzle,
but a growing seed,
complete, and yet every earning
to a waterfall of need.
To grow – to spring from mountains
of endless possibilities
that one heart can create and muster –
not to doubt but to believe.
A broken glass that fills the hole,
the blank, the empty verse, the soul.

A hermit enclosed in sacred walls
but unfolding away from solitude
A solstice of the waxing and waning forces
that thrives upon the Gifts of Earth.
The birth of Nature that winters though
the impermanence of life,
the living breath, the solitary spirit
that encompass the multitude.
A zypher in a sleepless night,
a blindspot that spreads the light.

A gem set apart from the world
and yet bound to everything –
the wither, the shape, the sparkle
a surface chiseled, refined –
vulnerable, open – but unstained
formed into a million raindrops
that converge at a single spot
enclosed in a four-walled prison
but the dusk does not signify
the end of the journey.
One wandering soul – a birth, a life...
Solitaire.

Orbit

by Clifford Marshal Ablaza

No matter how dark the night would be

No matter how hard the wind may blow

No matter how far you'd be from me

I'll never walk away from you.

No matter how long the wait will take

No matter if all the leaves are low

No matter if we overdo mistakes

I'll never walk away from you.

No matter how often we are cast away

No matter how strong the riptide goes

No matter how much the world would weigh

I'll never walk away from you.

No matter if youth will soon decay

No matter how deep every pain could grow

No matter what terrors this world display

I'll never walk away from you.

No matter if our stars would lose their shine

No matter if there's no joy we'd ever know

No matter if, in age we should decline

I'll never walk away from you.
