Ladder of Life

by Maybel Pigar

Impressive scenery lights,

Fortitude beams, lashes of green trees.

Detaches one soul as he goes along,

In the midst of darkness and wilderness.

I would like to ask you, then,

Have you ever walked in a solitary place?

Longing for the sun to rise up,

Exploring the new world of life.

Perhaps you know this, right?

Success I'm longing for

Where in spite of getting mangled

I could jog through splendid doors!

I heed, unhindered at once

The mere source I have found

Pearl bound lighten me up,

Together with power as I stand.

Lend me your ears

Hiding our weaknesses only increases our fears

Take advantage and flourish the rest,

Through God's perfection and marvelous deeds.

Nature's Battle

by Brian Joseph Matillano

The recourse of life-

Surviving amidst simpletons.

Worms tilling Earth-

The land inherited;

In spite of theft of big rats.

Ants toiling day and night

Sweat thicketh their torso

Labor ought for them;

Stolen by reptiles of the wild.

Deer of the desert

Free to roam and ramble.

Weak-preyed by lions,

Tortured by vultures,

Fishes that are swimming

By schools-singly or by twos

Are swallowed and deprived of life

By the giants of the kind.

Nature implies in itself-

Advantage is for some

The weak and ignorant lies-

What about Man?
