Building Partnership

Holy Infant College is not just a nest of many talented, fabulous, and intelligent students, but also a source of young discoveries who could be assets not only of our school but our whole Region as well. This has been achieved provenly by Ms. Rosalina Tamayo Dacuno as she was proclaimed the National Champion of last year's "Letter to Parents Contest," founded and sponsored by Reiyukai Philippines, which was slated last Nov. 22, 1997 in Ermita Manila.

Ms. Rosalina T. Dacuno is a native of Jaro, Leyte. She is the precious only daughter of Engr. & Mrs. Romeo Dacuno. "Ydai," as what her friends usually call her, is a Senior student taking up Liberal Arts Major in English. She is also one of our staffers at the School Publication Office and is appointed as the Associate Editor in Chief.

Talking about Reiyukai, let me tell you about a brief history on how and when was Reiyukai started.

In 1919, the world is in turmoil when the first world war had ended and left economies, governments and families in chaos. Mr. Kakutaro Kubo was deeply concerned by the degeneration of the human spirit due to the situation. It was at this time that Mr. Kubo, the founder of the Reiyukai, began to formulate his ideas on how this situation could be remedied and society be made a better place.

He realized that one of the ways to stop this decline was through Innerself Development, recognizing the importance of our daily actions and striving for a better relationship with others, thereby enhancing one's awareness and understanding that an individual can grow to his fullest potential. In fact, it is a must as a human being.

Despite a veneer of social progress and stability in the world around today, below the surface, problems like education for the young, problems in the home and lack of care for the aged all exist side by side. At first glance, they seem to be problems of the society, but in fact, the problems can be traced back to the individual. We should be aware of the need we all have to improve our innerselves and to make a better human being.

Through this idea, Reiyukai believes everybody will be able to do something of value for the society through positive actions.

Reiyukai is an international friendship organization which was founded in Japan in 1919. It was introduced to the Philippines in 1976. It has now members in several areas in the Philippines.

Today, Reiyukai has evolved into a mutifaceted organization which centers in 18 Countries and with a total membership of over 3 million.

This achievement of Ydai would be a sweet reminiscence for her to recall from time to time. And this success led her to live life to the fullest, and hopefully the turning point of her life. For now all she needs is to count her blessings
