A whole new HIC

"Change is continuous, for we never observe something coming out of nothing."

As the new school year opens its doors and as classes started, many changes in our school welcomed our eyes. Most of these changes are undoubtedly a big aid to uplift our school. However, some causes a negative reaction - well we could not please everybody. You might say of course, we have to anticipate changes for without it, life is such a bore." But it is as if some of the sudden changes and developments in our school are least expected ones. It's all beyond our contemplation.

The first noticeable improvement in our school is the extending of the covered walk from the canteen to the main lobby. It's quite beneficial to the campus populace because one feels safe to walk inside the school campus amidst the heavy downpour of rain or of the sun's heat. Not bad, right? It could also shade the "handsomes" and "beauties" sitting leisurely on concrete benches along the covered walk.

The second alteration is a bit controversial one: the school uniform of female collegians. Lately, it was the gist of conversations within the campus - trifle talks or gossips, that is. Calling to mind two years ago they adopted the style of uniform they had previously. According to the administration, it would be our permanent "wardrobe" - our own trademark.

Many had raised their eyebrows when they saw the new (photocopied) uniform. For them, it was just patterned from  another school uniform here in Palo. Whispering voice says, "Gosh, don't we have an originality? why not create a design from our own creative mind?" On the other hand, in fairness to the designer, many had been impressed when they saw the outcome of the college uniform. Nevertheless, if you would let your eyeballs roam at the four corner of our school, you would smilingly say, "My school is a school of anyform uniform."

Moreover, the most influential and affecting development that took place this year is the existence of the new directress in the person of Sr. Mary Loyola Rodriquez, RSM. Her occurrence has bring about improvements here in school. The transparency of Sr. Loyola's presence in every area in the campus, and in school activities and affairs, makes her closer to the studentry. Her tolerance with the student's demands carry out satisfaction as well as completion over students' needs. The approval of "Pista sa Nayon" and other unusual activities, which are restricted in the preceding years, is an apparent view that she has an ear to student's voice. Furthermore, one good thing in her is that, she never fails to recognize anyone's impressive deeds.

To add with this development, the Supreme Student Council was given an office in which they could sit down and work their task prior to their obligation to the school. The putting of the community extension such as, ANTEP is an evidence that HIC is very much willing to accept anything anything that could help people not only to those inside her, but those who need her religious services.

As time goes on and we're leading to the third millennium, many are waiting and eager to be a witness to the continuous struggle of Holy Infant College and the people behind her. Nevertheless, our school could not reach the top bream of success without our enduring quest as students for the betterment of our beloved school.
