Who's to blame |
||
|
Protests have been raised out of the believed to be Bulgarian's robbery to Velasco in the newly concluded Atlanta Olympics.
We did not even ask if who's really to be blamed for the Velasco fiasco.
Did we ever weigh things properly first before, we Filipinos judge to Onyok's loss and blame the three out of the five judges, that they should not push the score button unless the white portion of the glove lands on the opponent's body or face?
I would like to inform you that all the things that have been said and done was absurd, because I know who's to be blamed now!
I would say let us blame Fernando Poe Jr. for "teaching" Onyok the wrong way of hitting one's opponent. It appears Onyok has been watching too many FPJ starrers. He might have unconsciously imitated The King's formula for winning a success - screen perfect flurries to the body which leave onlookers awe-struck and the opponent dust-free. FPJ has zapped dozen of thugs with that style and Onyok might have thought it was worth copying.
I would say let's blame the coaches, for not appealing directly to the organizers of the world boxing association, or I may also say, of not adapting the Bulgarian's way of winning a game - for while Bojilov was getting clear hits at Velasco's head with jabs and straights, Velasco's body shots were either hitting the Bulgarian's arms and elbows.
I should say let's blame our country's misguided programs which entertain imported dudes like Buenavacz and ignore the local until it gets a medal. If we only trained our olympians with a massive force and well financially supported we might have tasted our first gold.
Let's blame everyone.
However, if we will continue this futility, this will turn nothing but vanity.
The best thing to do now is to prepare. Who know four years from know, we can get all the gold that God prepares for us.
Anyway, nothing is impossible with hope and perseverance.

Student leaders: A need! |
||
|
School leaders are elected by the students, of the students, for the students.
Every start of classes requires an election for an new set of officers. It may be a class or organizational officers, or supreme students council etc.
They are elected in such positions, because their classmates or fellow students believe in their abilities and capabilities. At the same time, they also hold responsibilities to lead in any projects and endeavors needed by the class, organization or school.
But are they all committed to serve? Did they not run only for fame and honor? Or to plan actions against the administrators?
Yes, these are some questions that need to be answered by the students so that they can choose the right person to be appointed.
This is not an easy task to do. You see, we have to examine carefully who has an earnest desire to serve his/her organization or the whole studentry. We know that there are some students who are enthusiastic and willing to serve at the beginning, but decline later. The most important is the retention of enthusiasm till the end.
There are also those who speak too much but act less. They only use their ability to talk and to convince students, but escape at the time of putting into action the mouthful promises that have been unfolded.
Of course, there are some who are sincere to their service, who forget about themselves and are only thinking for the good of the entire studentry.
So now and every time we vote our candidates, we should examine our conscience thoroughly first, before we write them in our sacred ballots, if we believe that we need them to guide and lead us through.
After all, they are to serve not to be served.
