| WORK SONG
2007 Harvey H. Warwick III I seem to do most of the work around here But what good it does me is not really clear. I studied hard while I was going to school But am not that much better off than a fool. Im known as a really dependable guy But havent succeeded yet, though I still try. Youd think Id be famous, with all that I do But if you should mention my name, folks say Who? Is he that new guy whos on late night TV Who comes on much later than I get to see? Or was he just drafted by our local team And gets paid more money than Ill ever dream? If youre not on TV and you have no dough Then youre not someone everybody would know. If youre just a regular guy with a job Youre no more outstanding than some uncouth slob. And if with that job you cannot pay your bills Then life tends to lose its immediate thrills. Perhaps maybe someday Ill meet with success Then mentioning my name will really impress The average man in the street, but til then Im just one of millions of poor working men. 1/07 |
