Unravelioli

©2003 Harvey H. Warwick III

I cooked my ravioli in the microwave
And oh, within a minute, such a smell it gave,
Yet caused it in the strangest manner to behave
For when I took it out, it fell apart.
I found each ravioli splitting down the seam
And venting in the air a little cloud of steam
And all the meat filling pouring out in a stream:
This isn’t how you’d want a meal to start.
How did this happen? Well, I really don’t know how;
I followed the directions to the letter, now,
And put it in the oven for a minute. Wow!
I guess I had the oven on too high.
Unravelioli is the name I gave
Because it came unraveled and began to cave.
To cook it right, one has to be a kitchen slave;
Perhaps I’d better give it one more try.
