About Holly Heinsohn:

Holly Heinsohn was raised in South Central Texas. Her earliest ancestors settled in Texas in December of 1834. Heinsohn’s great great-grandfather Wilhelm Heinsohn settled outside Hallettsville, Lavaca County, Texas in 1872. Holly’s love for Texas History was encouraged by her father, Earl Lowell Heinsohn who took her to historical places all over Texas.

Heinsohn is a research historian, professional genealogist and teaches history for The Victoria College. Holly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Master of Arts degree, and a master of education degree from The University of Houston-Victoria. She is the author of Historical Narratives of Lavaca County, Texas, Volume I. Two of her biographies appear in ENCYCLOPEDIA OF FREE BLACKS & PEOPLE OF COLOR IN THE AMERICAS.

Holly is an active member of the Lavaca County Historical Commission, the Lavaca County Records Retention Volunteers, and The Texas German Society.

When Heinsohn is not teaching history in the classroom, she is actively working on historical writing projects to secure historical markers in Lavaca County, Texas. Heinsohn has completed research and narratives on five historical topics on Lavaca County, Texas that have been awarded a Texas State Historical Marker.
