10-13 minutes only (listening, comprehension)
Can take dictation or tape - at end of book

POETRY:

Use poems and hymns and psalms
practice at odd times
Short Shakespearean passages
Post poem on wall each week
1 x good anthology

COMPOSITION:

For over 9 year olds only
Written narrations  - no pressure on punctuation
Emma - notes on history, literature, art, book reports, essays on current events - newspapers
Write poems/letters/newsletters

HANDWRITING:

Short lesson
Transcribing (copying) - do in conjunction with:

SPELLING:

Write words on board
Children look at words
Children shut eyes to see if they can still �see� word
Repeat 2 and 3 above
Erase word
Children write word
If error - children erase/white out word
Write word again

Dictation only with spelling preparation

DICTATION:

Prepare passage together
Sam - paragraph  Sarah - page
Identify problem words
Write words on board, using spelling process
Dictate passage.  Errors rubbed out

FOREIGN LANGUAGE:

Learn words orally
Read and write in foreign language
Grammar


Employment of foreign language teacher for correct pronunciation
Audio program

Tips:  1.  Simple objects around room (6 per day)
Use these words in sentences and use regularly

ART:

10 mins per week.  One artist at a time
Look at picture take in detail
Take print away
Have them describe from memory
Questions:  What time of day? Story behind it? Like it? What feeling?
Decorate with reprints.  Childrens Art:  illustrate from stories read.

Points of direction
hot/cold climates

maps: bedroom then country/ streams then rivers/ ponds then lakes
