MY BAKING CENTRE

My baking centre is almost complete!

I have been buying jars of pasta sauces. A little extravagant, I know - but we get the sauce and the mason-style jar for one price.  If I were to buy jars separately, they would cost far more.  Now that there are enough jars, I can make my own sauces.   In the meantime, beans and peas are stored in these jars, and they stand on show, sitting on a shelf that Andre made for me ~  which runs the length and just above one of the counter tops. Although the jars with beans look so pretty, I thought that they could be used more efficiently.  And so - I went to the task of transferring some of the beans and peas to Tuppaware containers and stored them in my pantry. Sarah, my middle daughter took great delight in sticking the labels I had printed onto the jars and plastic containers.

I now have a row of flours, sugars, baking soda, baking powder, guar gum, gluten free flours,  cocoa, - even soy oil for the cakes, with their delightful colours and textures ~ all on show in glass jars.

On the end of each counter top in our kitchen are rounded 'corner shelves'. These shelves house  mixers/blenders/ juicers - my 'servants'.   The kitchen drawers contain cookery books and aprons, as well as placemats and serviettes.   There is also a drawer for cooking utensils; measuring cups and spoons, whisk, spatulas, mixing bowl attachments, cookie cutters etc.   All the utensils I need to bake in the same convenient spot!

I now need to write out bread recipes and place them on the wall of my baking centre for quick reference.  Hmmmm.. perhaps even a corkboard for notes made during baking.?

Busy as a bee,
Helen
