The Devilbiss family first arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, aboard
the ship BRITANNIA, on September 21, 1731. The brothers and sister
were without parents. Presumely, they died enroute, or before the
children left from Europe. They were Michael, age 22, Hans,
age 18, Magdelena, age 18, George, age 16, and Casper, age 10.
Until there arrival in Maryland, about 1736, I have a lack of information.
After that time, they became prominent settlers of the area. Nothing
has been found on Hans (John) that I know of.
