Reflections

Let me mention the struggles
The hard times
The poverty
The woman pushing the kart
Who hasn’t been on the other side of a smile
Much less embraced in a hug

Let me mention the road is long
Ma Teresa knew and believed in the importance of actually being with someone in need
Rather than just doing something for them

Carrying our brothers
Unloading the weight from our sister’s backs

She was strong
Strong enough to carry them
Once she let go of that coin sack

The pay check is heavy and it is holding us down
Remember it takes more than a pay check to turn this crazy world around

What about the mission trips to Mexico, Argentina, and other places far way
Far away from our comfortable homes

Sure they are in need
But what about the love-cravin’ children in our own city
What about the homeless sleeping and starving on our own streets
Along with crossing overseas we must cross over main and go east
Revelations 3:17 reminds us that we are all poor and blind
Then there was Jesus lifting away the dividers, bringing all our sins great and small down onto the same shelf
We are all sinners
Please remind us that we are all brothers and sisters

Hebrews 13:3 advises us to remember those who are mistreated as if we ourselves were suffering

We are all suffering
Please remind us that we are all brothers and sisters

All living in the Spirit
The Spirit living with in us
Like an ocean in our souls
Swell after swell, after swell
A continual life-giving love-reaching energy
This joy sustains us
And we can never be weighed down

This joy sustains me when I am pained by the struggles I see and feel everyday

Sustains-through a five year old child’s squeezes and giggles
Sustains-through blessings and kisses on my hands
My hands that bring temporary warmth, and a human touch to Herman, my friend who lives on the streets.
Sustains-through his most distressing disguises
But He ain’t heavy-He’s my brother.
Because we are all held in the everlasting arms
Let the Kingdom Come
